Ah, yes indeed - Philip Hoare was there. He was very friendly and said that it took them 16 months to complete the book.

Arrived in the basement at around 1820 after tramping the length of Oxford Street & Regent Street in search of a specific toy to assist Santa in making my daughter happy come the 25th. Also walked in (then straight out)of several shoe shops to buy my darling wife a new pair of boots followed by a slap up meal in a top restraunt. Small price to pay for my wife putting up with standing in a queue to meet & greet the boys....
We were ticket No 79 & by 1910 we were at the front of the queue ready to meet Chris & Neil. Assistants took Catalogue off my hands & presented it for Chris to sign. I then presented Chris with the clear 7" vinyl of Minimal & Chris said" Wow this is different what is it". (Obviously too dark with his cool shades on). Before i could reply Neil sarcastically replied "It's Minimal" before rolling his eyes at Chris. Classic. Neil signed both the book & vinyl with no comment. The assistant then took my PopArt triple vinyl boxset off me & gave it to Chris to sign but as he put his silver marker to it i said "above your cool shades please", he didn't get it (do you) & proceeded to sign it on the bottom left.Again Neil signed it (not above his pointy hat!!)without comment. I asked Chris " What about the 4th single from Fundamental". Chris replied "What, another one....." Never got to find out if he actually meant another single or that it was a question that had been asked before. I said a big thankyou, bye bye & Neil actually spoke "Pleasure". It certainly was.
Three meetings now & this was the best. Chris was on fire but i found Neil too laid back...Selling Catalogue at £27 a time to hundreds, he deserves to take it easy.

YEAH!! I got there and got the book signed in dedication to my friend (A fan) from the North who couldn't get there. I think it was Neil who wrote her name in the book. I got a smile and hello from Neil
. I also got my Popart leaflet signed but it got very smudgy with the ink. I met quite a few friends including 'BB' and Mantooth
and he along with myself and a few others went for drinks after the event. It was a big crowd in Selfridges.......a fantastic night. I got a couple of 'side photos'. Need to download them.
Back to Trafalgar.........

I wasn't expecting a big turnout but was hoping that I could get a lot of my items that I brought along with me would be signed fully. I got help from 2 of my buddies with stuff to sign, most of which were able to get thier jobs accomplished fully. I waited in the queue from just after 4pm along with my items and numbered card which I got earlier at lunch, with a copy of Catalogue.
At 6:30pm, I noticed that the turnout wasn't as big as previous signings but there was plenty to go about. At around 7pm, after interacting with a couple of fans (also signing a card presented to me by the crazy fan, Trixter), I fnally got some items signed and spoke to Chris about the blue Can you forgive her? 7". I asked him if he knew about this item and told him that there are rumours that only 3 exist. He replied, "I don't know of it". I responded with a grin, "you do now" along with a wink lol. When I collected my items together, it appeared that some of Neil's signatures were smudged and that the felt pen he used was too thin, unable to dry soon enough which left me no choice but to go round again. I mentioned it to Neil and he looked at me apologising and asked to re-sign them but, an Asian twatto member of staff told me to re-join the queue, so I did.
When I finally did after spending a few minutes sorting my stuff on a bed lol and re-joining the queue waiting about half an hour to get seen again, Neil signed a few things which needed replacing and as soon as it came to the most important signature, the fat bitch woman stopped it from happening! That was to be Neil's signature on the blue Can you forgive her? 7" that I brought along. I later found out that the important signature was there and was looking at the wrong vinyl (I packed a 2nd 7"). Chris never had to re-sign anything as his silver felt seemed to dry instantly.
I did have a verbal fight with the security about the situation but they weren't listening and eventally one of them listened and understood my reasons for going round again, shortly after the Boys left Selfridges. It wasn't a pleasant bitchfight but, I can't say that it was a really bad day with what I got signed.
Below is what I finally got signed:
New York city boy Remix Special 99 - Neil & Chris (now has 2 Neil sigs aswell as a Pete Gleadall sig)
Catalogue - Chris & Neil & Philip Hoare
Home And Dry Canadian Remix CD promo - Neil
Can you Forgive Her? blue 7" - Chris & Neil (re-done, I was looking at the 2nd 7" I brought along but realised Chris' sig wasn't on it so I turned it over and it was there
- I had both sigs on one of them and was looking at the wrong vinyl !!!)
Fundamental UK 2CD - Chris & Neil
Below is what 2 of my friends got signed for me:
Promotion Japanese CD - Chris & Neil (re-done)
Very promo folder - Chris & Neil (re-done)
PopArt Japanese promo folder - Chris & Neil
Catalogue (sealed with poster) - Chris & Neil on the unopened shrinkwrap with original "Waterstone's" stickers
In The Night German 7" promo - Chris & Neil
Below is what I didn't get signed:
Fundamental UK 2CD (my 2nd copy which I didn't really need signing in the first place, as long as my immaculate copy was signed)
Can you Forgive Her? blue 7" (my 2nd copy that I later forgot that I brought with me)
Heart promo Italian 7" in unique p/s
I Get Along CDR
Zoe Ball: XFM CDR
IDOSAC CDR
New York city boy Remix Special 99 (my 2nd copy which didn't have a signature in the first place)
At the end of the day, the bad service of security and staff who wouldn't listen to anyone or anything, even if Neil and Chris didn't oblige to anything from fans, ruined the whole event. I just wish that the next session is more organised and staff are not driving fans away without having thier questions forwarded. I also won't be recommending anyone to Selfridge's anymore. Selfish, is the new name that I'm giving for the shop.

Either that or selfish fanboys trying to get a thousand items signed twice.Technotrancemix wrote:At the end of the day, the bad service of security and staff who wouldn't listen to anyone or anything, even if Neil and Chris didn't oblige to anything from fans, ruined the whole event.

Indeed, brighton centre sucks, no atmosphere! What was the other venue you suggested? The Dome? By the sounds of it, we are a looong way off a tour announcement then... *sigh*DavePSB wrote:Ya, I was there. Both of the Boys were very talkative. We spoke about Brighton, and Chris said he didn't like our exhibition centre. I suggested another venue that Neil took interest to, and said he'll speak to their agent
I went fishing with Salvador Dali; he used a dotted line.

well, you can exempt me from this as I only went round again to get just a couple of sigs from Neil to replace the smudged ones. I think this is what staff weren't trying to understand even though it was them who told me to go round again...Boy Strange wrote:Either that or selfish fanboys trying to get a thousand items signed twice.
