I agree. It even survives being dropped - as I found out once when I walked away from it with the cable wrapped around my foot!

the early PS2s were atrocious, the slimline model is great though

Even though its a year since release the PS3 is growing stronger in the marketplace now and certainly will be a big seller this year, mostly due to the fact it includes a Blu-ray player as standard.

To say the PS3 is 'just crap' is lame. I've had ps2, 360 and they don't come close to the capabilities of the PS3. Early adopters can also play their ps2 games well most of them. I think a big surge of sales will come with the release of Grand Theft Auto and Gran Turismo.

It should have been Christmas number 1 last year, but with those two games it's definitely going to be well up the list this year and this Christmas.

It's the best console out there by some margin, and I don't regret buying one early(ish) for one second.

Well Blue-ray was the better format. The discs hold more info so when it trickles down to the computer market you'll have a lot more storage on a Blue -ray disc than an HD DVD.

When this thing really takes off is anyones guess since most people still don't own HD TV's.

I have a feeling I'll have a blue-ray player when i get a PS3 if it ever comes down in price.

wonder if we've made the right decision this time, as consumers. I mean we went for the inferior VHS over Beta Max.......... !!

I'm quite happy with the standard DVD format. It's small and does the job. I don't really buy films, more into TV series and comedies etc.

One forgotten point about BlueRay is that a "season" will be on one disk.
So get set to buy a box set of 7 discs containing all 7 seasons (years).
That is when I will get serious about BlueRay.

A friend recently lashed out on a Pioneer 60" plasma, amp, BlueRay player and 5.1 speakers.
The BD movie quality was only marginally better than SD, but then my eyesight is not great.
Even so, I am now in even less hurry to buy BlueRay.
I will wait for the series season releases of TV shows I like.
