to most people on the planet, that giving
the Palestinian people the dignity of a home,
is the key to world peace.

To fall for the line that this now "unfashionable",
illustrates the total vacous failure of US dominance.

Is it any wonder we have terrorism ?

blaming the US and Israel is a default. its amateur hour politics.its like college kids with "meat is murder" slogans. its all very silly, almost like a right of passage for kids new to politics,anti-gov,anti-fur anti US/Israel ....ho hum.

at the end of the day,the constant failure of the palestinians and some arab culture requires a boogeyman. blaming america and Israel is neccesary...anthing... rather than examine their own cycle of continual failed culture.

The main point of that part of the piece is that The Republic of Ireland was never attacked during The Troubles.

With respect, it's a discussion, we can go where we like. The point I'm making is a community deprived of civil rights was attacked with the tacit approval or cooperation of official bodies, eg RUC and the Pat Finucane murder.

In that case, it is Northern Ireland, or rather, certain parts of it and not the island as a whole. The Republic of Ireland was left alone.

As for Finucane, three of his siblings were active members of the IRA, plus he had links himself through his line of work. I'm not surprised he was hit, although I admit the way it was done was a bit suspect.



To go back to the original point about the piece to make my last comment on The Troubles:

If the UK had behaved towards the Republic of Ireland in the way that Israel are now towards Gaza, then there wouldn't be much left of it. However, that would have caused more problems than it would be worth. The UK would have been the pariah of the world. The US would have been uproar and may even have reacted with force towards the UK. The UK itself would have been in turmoil as sympathisers and refugees clashed with loyalists. I hate to think the mess that the west of Scotland would have ended up in.

'Northern Ireland' is very much in the 'Israel' category as being an ideological construction of the occupying power. Ireland and Palestine, however.....

You are always talking about Arab culture and middle east culture... What's your problem with cultures? What about American Culture? Is your culture Great/perfect? How old is your culture? Hamburger culture...
