My boss' droning lecture about the merits of not spending too much time on Internet but handling the backorder
on the background: U96- Night in Motion.
Does anyone remember them?

I have a fair amount of 808 State, but I haven't bought anything for a while and wasn't aware of re-issues. What's available?Fugitive1979 wrote:StevePSB wrote:This month I have mostly been listening to various 808 State albums.

'Quadrastate' finally got a CD release last April. The CD comes with bonus tracks.StevePSB wrote:I have a fair amount of 808 State, but I haven't bought anything for a while and wasn't aware of re-issues. What's available?

'90', 'Ex:El', 'Gorgeous' and 'Don Solaris' were all remastered and reissued last September. All four albums come with a second CD, containing bonus tracks.
I believe all are still available from Amazon.

Cool. Might have to look into those when I am back at work and earning money again. Listening to ex:el right now as it happens - by far their best album IMHO.

Re: 5/2009 Listening Thread
(ex:el is indeed a splendid 808.)
Weird- a blogger at New York magazine's websites wrote in raptures about new Rihanna song, written and with vocals by Lady Gaga and produced by Kanye West. The writer predicted it would be a massive summer hit. It's called "Silly Boy", and the writer interpreted as a scorching rebuke to Rihanna's abusive ex, Chris Brown. I listened to the link for days, and saw his point. Heavily electronic, massive vocal AutoTune happening, but I enjoyed it- Rihanna and Gaga for a catchy summer single sounds like a no brainer.
BUT- as many people told the abashed writer, it's a Kanye demo, meant to show how he envisions such a duet- but damn if the female singers he hired don't sound like them. Anyway, it's not bad for stupid pop. Use your imagination that it's a Rihanna/Gaga duet :
