Who's jurisdiction is he in though? Not the US, that's for sure. The US should be more concerned with rubbing out the insane Tea Party instead of an Aussie guy with a laptop.

the tea party are just men and women being overly political. happens everhwhere. its how political partys get started.ho hum.
the wiki links had stolen security data regarding the security of a country and its people.
we have armed forces for the same reason we have police departments.
if I take posession of stolen personal data like your credit card info and use or pass it along, it makes no diffrence if I live an ocean away from you or next door. what I did was illegal.in violation of an entity, could be a person...a company...a country...it makes no difference.

Nah, it's just information. How can a country claim sole ownership of information? It's like claiming that it owns the oxygen in the air.glennjridge wrote:the wiki links had stolen security data regarding the security of a country and its people.

Re: Wikileaks Wants to Change World History....
countrys own all sorts of things. for instance, they own airspace, countrys own property, passages of sea. countrys can own all sorts of things that you cant even touch.
but countrys owning this or that is not the problem of this case so much as the governments are in charge of protecting its people.its about security of its people. and governments and systems of justice put things in charge and give them certian powers and govern them by laws.
the government has put in charge of the security of this country in the hands of the defense department. that includes the armed forces. no sense in debating the fairness or unfairnes of why theft or releasing of a countrys national security info is considered a crime. most likely espionage.
theres no sense getting lenthy seeing as you have a habit of shotgunning cute emoticons in leu of answers. it just is partrick.

I'll repeat; how can the US 'own' information about other countries? Fair enough if there was only one country in the world or they were the Cylons, but they're not (yet).

Re: Wikileaks Wants to Change World History....
this is how.
Definition of ESPIONAGE
: the practice of spying or using spies to obtain information about the plans and activities especially of a foreign government or a competing company.
thats the law most likely, the US will try to get assange with. whether it sticks, who knows.
but its on the books and was last used against someone in 2005.
The US defines espionage towards itself as "The act of obtaining, delivering, transmitting, communicating, or receiving information about the national defense with an intent, or reason to believe, that the information may be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation. Black's Law Dictionary (1990) defines espionage as: "...gathering, transmitting, or losing...information related to the national defense". Espionage is a violation of United States law, 18 U.S.C. § 792–798 and Article 106 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice".

And this is exactly the sort of imbecilic thinking used by morons everywhere in lieu of actual thought. See also: "It's only okay when we do it." But as the conservatives have been bleating for years, if the US government has nothing to hide, it has nothing to fear from the erosion of its privacy.glennjridge wrote:this is how.

Meanwhile, I assume you want Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby held to precisely the same punishment dished out to Julian Assange for their highly publicized role in leaking national secrets re: Valerie Plame?

– It was only a matter of time before conspiracy theorists came out of the woodwork to suggest that Israel is behind the publication of the WikiLeaks trove – and is manipulating the information coming out to help Israeli interests.

Re: Wikileaks Wants to Change World History....
you are such a silly goofy boy scout about these serious matters. the fact I would like americans to get away with espionage on other countrys is no double standard.if any american got busted for doing it to another country I obviously wouldnt want him to goto their jail for espionage but I would understand it.Sam Winchester wrote:And this is exactly the sort of imbecilic thinking used by morons everywhere in lieu of actual thought. its a high stakes game for people of ALL countrys.thats the risk. theres been americans caught and sent to jail in foriegn places for doing it to other countrys, and there are foreign people who have done it to us and got sent to jail.but theres a risk because all countrys consider stealing their secrets regarding their info ILLEGAL. .....helloooooo!!
as far as valerie plame anyone who purposely outs an actual field CIA agent should be executed as enemys of the state. dick cheney scooter libby included.

plus any deal Isreal could have made, america could have offered 1000 times more. not to mention the same people who hate america hate Israel. no deals would have been made as they consider america/Isreal essencially the same entity.
