So 80s in my shopping cart since last night. I already have their Sandra compilation. Really greateful for that one.

There are some amazing tracks on Sugar Tax: All That Glitters, Speed Of Light, Pandora's Box, Sailing On The Seven Seas, Walking On Air, Call My Name. A must listen for PSB fans, I'd say.

Also, don't forget Walking On The Milky Way from the mid-90s.

The only OMD cd (or vinyl) I found in stores was The OMD Single Collection which I immediately picked up. I really like it, and am going to buy all the albums. I can definitely see why some say that Very has a sister album with OMD, don't know which one but there are a couple of songs that are very Very On a side note, I also finally listened to Simple Minds' Glittering Prize collection, and was so pleasantly surprised that I like that one a lot too. So now I have two "new" bands to buy. Very happy about that.

I'm a massive OMD fan but don't really see a connection with PSB. They have released some truly excellent singles and the "Sugar Tax" album is in my all time top 5.

They have just finished recording a new album called "English Electric" which is due out spring next year.

I'll take your guys' word for it that later OMD is worth a listen. I'm pretty or completely ignorant of their later stuff. Shall give it a try.

Funny related aside: My local gas station, where I buy my cigs and beer (yes, I'm pathetic) pumps only 80's music outside. It's the queerest thing, like they set it to that Sirius channel and left it there. So the last time I heard OMD was there, last week, "If You Leave". Can't say I enjoyed hearing it- sometimes you don't want to go back, didn't like that song much anyway.

The guys at the gas station are all Turkish- Muslin terrists no doubt! (sic/sic). No, they're great guys, know me well. One of them is young, sometimes he's goth, with eyeliner, (cool, I say. do what you want.) I'd bet he chose that 80's programming, when he's not watching Turkish football (soccer) matches on his iPad. I don't have a point, just a slice-of-life with OMD. Oh, and yes, I have driven away while West End Girls was on the outside speakers. Slightly surreal.

Their later ones (like the Sandra compilation) are really excellent, but the previous releases (sadly the OMD compilation is on that list) are brutally louder and then compressed and 'brickwalled' (if you know what that means...search on wikipedia about 'loudness war' if you don´t and you´ll understand...). I compared mixes from other sources with the 'remastered' versions on this CD and the loss in almost unacceptable ...really sad because judging the tracklisting is the best OMD mixes compilation ever made...

I'm sure you'll find some 'classics' on the OMD discography...even here, in the other side of the world, 'Secret', 'Pandora's box', 'Dreaming' and maybe a few more are those kind of tracks everybody knows but had no idea (and don´t care...) about who´s the artist behind them...

I also think that The Human League is a missed name on this thread (talking about other acts with similar musical achievements compared with PSB...) What do you think?

I can't stand the brickwalled released, that's why I hate most of today's music, it is so loud and noisy! I have recognized quite a few OMD tracks from the compilation I bought, and will buy their albums after I figured out which version is the best.
I never cared for The Human League until I bumped into The League Unlimited Orchestra on youtube (the whole thing), later bought the CD and then the album with Dare in the box and really liked it.

Fairly loud, PoloPony! The whole gas station, especially near the pumps, is like an 80's disco, ha.
