I must disagree, because even though I like OMD a lot, I find Liberator a horrendously weak album, by far the band's worst. With some career nadir lyrics too: "heaven is a television left on all day" must be the dullest description of heaven I've ever heard,. It has also dated very badly, since it borrows so much of the Europop of its era. Sugar Tax would be a better comparison point, because it's much more classier and has a more timeless synthpop sound.

I love English Electric though. Now this is proper OMD, a tight and concise album with no bad track on it. I found HoM too long and uneven: it had its moments like both parts of the title track, but too much fluffy dross that tried to sound current and failed badly. Metroland and Helen Of Troy especially sound like classic OMD singles. The interludes are suitably silly and don't outstay their welcome, so they add to the overall listening experience too.

Sugar Tax was my favorite OMD album (that I own) before HOM came out, for whatever that's worth.

7,267 sales which is pretty good for OMD. A lot more than their comeback album a few years ago, so their reputation is building again.

There is a strange, tiny "gap" in the track "The future will be silent" at around 1.36. (Similar to the crack in PSB's "Time on my hands" on Disco 3.) Anyone else got this? My copy is the edition with the DVD. The crack is not there when i listen to the track on Spotify.

Oh that's interesting, all this time I thought Andy McCluskey ripped Dream of Me off from Liberation.

Andy ripped Dream of Me off from Barry White. It's basically White's Love Theme with words on top.

Helen of Troy is one of OMD's best songs ever. For me at least top 10, maybe top 5.

I bought this album on vinyl. Its packaged nicely. The album itself whilst not awful is not their best. I rate it on a par with HOM, prob 6-7 out of 10. my favourite OMD will always be Architecture and Morality.that is a definite 10 out of 10. And Danimal I agree with you re Liberator. Its one of my favourite OMD albums, although its interesting to see how others opinions differ.

Nice album. I really Like this band. very simmilar to PSB. Their album is really great. Thypical OMD sound and Paul on vocals.
