They deserve some thumbs up, the album is nice for what it is.

But really, this is a very high summary on Wikipedia. Too high.

The most overrated album in a long time. If Discovery got those grades it would have been overrated a bit, but for this "tribute" album to get them is just ridiculous.

You get good reviews in music buy reacting to the current state of Pop and taking things in a new (old) direction. Synth Pop and Electronica are huge, Daft Punk are an electronic band, so they made an analog record and everyone goes crazy.

It's the same psychology behind doing an acoustic cover of a throwaway pop song on American Idol and getting a standing ovation.

Well, I like it. No, it's not new or original or even as orgasmically wonderful as the critics make it out to be. And I'm sure Electric will blow it out of the water. Til then, RAM is getting a lot of play on my car stereo.

I must admit I was a bit lukewarm about it on first listen but have to say it's grown on me. Agree that it's over hyped and people seem to be falling over themselves a bit over this album but it's not without it's merits: Instant Crush, Giorgio, Motherboard and Contact are my faves and it's a great album to drive to ... the turkeys are Touch and Doin' it right - both embarrassingly bad.

All told, It's a nice bit of synth filler .... until PSB release the main event later this year

I agree with most of the above. I do really like 'Instant Crush' and 'Contact'.

'Touch' - for some reason makes me think that it would suit Liza Minnelli singing it.

'Giorgio By Moroder' - improves after his Neil Tennant-esque spoken verse from 1min 51secs onwards.

The NME gave it 10/10, it's good but not that good.

Electric it may turn out to be a better album

But it wont be an as succinct or reduced album, with a carefully distilled public image easily digested by hipsters.

But it will still be GREAT!

I think Electric will have more immediacy, RAM more longevity.

Not so sure about longevity. Repeated listening of RAM seems to diminish it. It was fresh in a retro way at first, but now it is hard to sit though. Quite gruelling, with its overproduced cheapness.

Get Lucky is fab, but one of the few points the listener gets to rise to the surface for fresh air.

Maybe longevity because they are famous and the darlings of hipster playlisters.

Well I'm on about my forth time playing this album now and I'm enjoying it more with each listen.
I think the Tron Legacy soundtrack will always be the standout album of theirs for me, however RAM is great.
I particularly LOVE Giorgio, from 1.51 onwards it is the most awesome piece of music I have heard for ages!
I believe this is definitely not an album you'd appreciate properly on first listen, but with time you will grow to have a love affair with it.

I find most (but not all) of RAM awesome and it's been on loop for days now. By contrast I've listened to Axis only twice. My guess is that I won't be much in tune with Electric.
