Article in The Observer says this is a leftist anti-Trump, anti-Brexit inspired album.

I guess this will be the first Erasure album since I became a fan in 1991 that I haven't bought on the week of release...

I find that quite interesting. Andy isnt the greatest lyricist imo and the new single is pretty poor but by the sounds of it, there is a story to tell with the other songs. We shall see.

Single is A-listed on Radio 2.

Dont know what to think of it. On first listen it seems to be a right mess/jumble but at least it is interesting rather than the horrifically bland 'love you to the sky' nonsense. Sounds like it will be a grower.

Erasure remixes have generally been far better than PSB's lately (for a while actually), none of this Tuff City Kidz or Baba Stiltz nonsense.
They have stuck to traditional type remixes eg extended dance mix style that actually fully incorporate the original song and aren't some dj signature song! For that I am incredibly happy, shame PSB don't do the same.

PSB want clubplay, you don't get much with the kind of remixers Erasure use.

Clubplay? What kind of clubs would play some of the awful remixes they have had the last few years? Do they really get anything out of this in terms of sales and promotion? I doubt it very much. The DJ would have to make sure they even knew it was PSB playing half the time!

That remix doesnt go anywhere near saving an appalling single. Andy must have had a plate of magic mushrooms writing that and then saying its the best song for years. It isnt. Its one of the worst. They can do much better. 'Still Its Not Over' is proof. A far superior record to that babble they call a single.

The only issue i have with SINO is that choir sounding part obscures what Andy is singing and it becomes a bit of a noise but its a massive improvement on 'Love You To The Sky'.

Remixes like the E-Smoove and Murk remixes of Liberation for instance were big in clubs in Europe and South America. The remixers PSB have used over the years have generally been of very high quality. You may not like them, but that doesn't make them less brilliant of what they do.

They wrote LYTTS additionally, only after almost finishing the album. Daniel Miller wanted them to have an uptempo first single, so it's pretty good for what it is, a necessity.

The E-Smoove and Murk remixes were big in clubs in Europe and South America? Really? They are truly awful remixes! As tunes in their own right they are OK but as a remix they are garbage! Can hardly even tell they are PSB!
I don't judge a remix on the name or reputation of the remixer, I judge it on the remix, and totally changing a song and making it into a unique piece of music is not, in my opinion, a good remix, it's not even really a remix, it's a re-song!
They were great at the beginning up until the Very era when these 'fashionable' remixers came along and basically ruined it. Simply choosing a remixer because of his name is pretentious in my opinion and very debatable whether it actually helps them sell more records, if it does very few I'd imagine (can't imagine it's possible to put a number on this).
Even in 1993-94 when PSB released Very and Erasure I say I say I say the Erasure remixes were generally much better (in my opinion), they too had the occasional crap one as described above but far less. The PSB Go West remixes are terrible, a song which had the potential for some fantastic up beat remixes which was totally wasted. Some excellent Can you forgive her? and Yesterday when I was mad remixes (Coconut 1, Jam and Spoon) saved that era though just about, as well as the amazing Young Offender Jam and Spoon mix which will go down as one of their best.

Sorry but the Undertow and Burn remixes are really quite poor and it is a shame that PSB choose to keep having these mixes done when they offer nothing to anybody in my opinion. The new Erasure single has excellent remixes by Ladytron, Matt Pop (upbeat dance mixes) Adam Turner, Vince Calrke and Loframes and all of them are totally relevant to the song and are all fantastic in their own way, proof that it is still possible today to have an excellent set of remixes over 10 minutes of utter garbage like what Tuff City Kids did to Undertow or the Baba Stiltz Burn nonsense. And if you are going to tell me they are being played in clubs in Europe and South America and are a great promotion tool then I'd say you are in some kind of fantasy land frankly.

Well, I think that the Tuff City kids remixes are excellent ! The burn mix is okay, even though it's more a reconstruction, than a remix. The point is : They choose remixers that will get them played in clubs around the world. They have a remix consultant that works for DJ magazine for crying out loud!
They are not choosing remixers based on what you or any one else likes, but what will get them the most exposure. If you like it great ! If not, too bad. That's just the way it is.
