Not quite the way Neil sings, but close. Too much ad-libbing.

A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

I imagine everyone's seen this thread!
Neil talks about AI
Kind of fun to hear Neil himself is impressed, and not reflexively against the tool.

Neil might not be so impressed once people start doing well with songs featuring “his voice”.alternativeformat wrote: Tue 16 May 2023, 11:53 am I imagine everyone's seen this thread!

Yes, the voice technology is a whole other matter. I hope artists will have control over the use of their voices.
I would get a big kick out of playing with such a toy, though, hearing my favorite artists "covering" each other's songs, if I could afford whatever it winds up costing to use the software and license any individual voice plug-in.
If something like that will even happen. But these days the impossible seems increasingly likely.

As I have been saying, it’s just a small amount of time till each of us will be able to select a famous persons voice from a list and sing using their voice.
Imagine being able to sing with Neil’s voice. as tallthin man implied it may be the wild west now, but I suspect cease and desist orders will start flying soon.
I mean that dude found a way to make Neil sing George Michaels song “you have been loved”. That’s impressive.

Verse 1:
In a world of endless screens
Our hearts are numb and our minds are mean
We're chasing shadows in the night
Searching for meaning in a synthetic life
Chorus:
Synthetic dreams, they never fade
In this world of digital masquerade
We're lost in a sea of data streams
Our lives are just ones and zeroes it seems
Verse 2:
We used to dream of love and light
But now we're just a glitch in sight
Our hearts are cold and our minds are numb
We're just a number in the great big sum
Chorus:
Synthetic dreams, they never fade
In this world of digital masquerade
We're lost in a sea of data streams
Our lives are just ones and zeroes it seems
Bridge:
But maybe, just maybe
We can break free from this reality
And find our way back to humanity
To love and to dreams that are meant to be
Chorus:
Synthetic dreams, they never fade
In this world of digital masquerade
We're lost in a sea of data streams
Our lives are just ones and zeroes it seems
I dumped these lyrics into a different AI tool, gave it a style guide (80's electropop), and it created this: https://www.udio.com/songs/h4ZKVgueYLtRoXEvq7NVy2
It's not bad for 20 seconds 'work'

I like the song.
Neil's voice doesn't sound quite right though

Haven't you heard? His voice has changed, a long-term cold, apparently, or a bad dose of COVID.Pinhead44 wrote: Sat 13 Apr 2024, 6:28 pm I like the song.

The AI covers have died down a bit...but the ones with AI "Neil" singing this or that popular song have been mostly totally convincing,
its a powerful technology, I have been creating alot of George Michael singing songs of the 30's 40's 50 big band music, and the tech is so good you literally cant tell. plus you can use his voice to sing yourself. to go from not having a nice sounding singing voice, to actually having the voice of GM is amazing. can only imagine what the future holds.

Lordie lordie, the value of an acoustic live performance will increase, hopefully.glennjridge wrote: Sat 13 Apr 2024, 7:06 pm The AI covers have died down a bit...but the ones with AI "Neil" singing this or that popular song have been mostly totally convincing,

I asked ChatGPT to write a Pet Shop Boys diss track of Erasure. Hope nobody is offended by this, but it's too funny not to share.
===
Sure, here's a new song in the style of the Pet Shop Boys, titled "Echoes of Erasure":
(Verse 1)
In the neon glow of the city streets,
Where the beats collide and the melodies meet,
There's a shadow lurking, a rival's call,
But they'll never rise, they'll never stand tall.
(Pre-Chorus)
They mimic our style, they echo our sound,
But underneath it all, they're just a rebound.
They try to outshine, but they're second-rate,
In the echo chamber, they'll meet their fate.
(Chorus)
Echoes of Erasure, fading away,
In the shadow of our neon display.
Their imitation, a hollow sound,
In the kingdom of pop, they're never crowned.
(Verse 2)
With every synth note, with every beat,
We pave the way on the street of elite.
But they follow blindly, they can't keep pace,
In the race of the icons, they'll lose the race.
(Pre-Chorus)
They steal our moves, they borrow our flair,
But when the lights dim, they're left in despair.
They try to outshine, but they're lost in the night,
In the echo chamber, they'll fade from sight.
(Chorus)
Echoes of Erasure, fading away,
In the shadow of our neon display.
Their imitation, a hollow sound,
In the kingdom of pop, they're never crowned.
(Bridge)
They'll never reach the heights we've known,
Their echoes fade as ours have grown.
We're the rulers of this neon dream,
In our kingdom, they're just a scream.
(Chorus)
Echoes of Erasure, fading away,
In the shadow of our neon display.
Their imitation, a hollow sound,
In the kingdom of pop, they're never crowned.
(Outro)
So let them echo in the night,
While we shine in the neon light.
In the realm of pop, we reign supreme,
And in the echoes of Erasure, they'll never gleam.
