Luna Park is one of those songs that doesn't attract any attention maybe it's not underrated but simply less known really beautiful song.

I too really like Luna Park, although the intro reminds me of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds..

At first i thought it has something i already heard. I liked it but was not my favorite.
Now i think it's one of their most beautiful song, the lyrics, the sounds of the funfair, the melody, the strings, etc. Sad, beautiful, dark, It's just perfection, and that amongst other already fantastic songs on fundamental.

I have never underrated any of their songs, I think. But they themselves seem to underrate Was That What It Was which I believe is greatly liked by many of us. Could've fitted on an expanded Disco.
Bit stiff for a dance album in my opinion

Greetings,
Most underrated PSB song? I Didn’t Get Where I Am Today.
It should have been the triumphant first single off Release, storming the Top 10... instead it was tucked away as a b-side a few years after it was recorded.
I can only shake my head.
Retro.

I usually really like their songs with a lot of sound effects, but I've come to appreciate the simpler ones over the years. I've realized the most underrated ones over the years.
Love comes quickly
You only tell me you love me
Boy strange
Jealousy
A new Bohemia
One-hit wonder
The boys themselves underestimate the masterpieces:
Was that what it was?
Before
A red letter day
Single
Reunion
Only love
One night
Dancing in the dusk
Baby
Decide
An open mind
I’ve got plans
It’s not a crime

In the club or in the queue.
Just like that - a demo by Abba that leaked from the Opus 10 album sessions is a good comparison: they say it's too weak but fans wont have it.

Nobody has mentioned It Always Comes As A Surprise, so I will. It’s like one long musical sigh of contentment.

Discoteca- the same detached, loneliness and nostalgia oozing drama they have done so well in Please, Actually and Introspective.
I don't speak in anger, though the chances that I've let
Pass me by and now regret
I can't forget, they're haunting me
Like a score of unpaid debts
Those lines feel so true that it is a little bit scary.
Up Against It- At around 2003 when this forum was bursting with hot debates and chock-full of members, the Swedish members were particularly big fans of this song, and they were wise . It is among the top 3 songs in Bilingual for me (let's pretend it was released as a single instead of the horrible trying-to-please-the-crowds-but-failing-miserably Se A Vida E .)
To Step Aside- Ditto.
Minimal- It is a sonic beauty and at the time of the release of Fundamental, it was praised highly but it is unfortunately forgotten later, swept by the Petheads under the rug

And someone here had the audacity to call the Sodom and Gomorrah Show better than Minimal, lol
Brick England- Because it is not a PSB song per se? That's why you do not love it that much?. My heart feels broken:(

oo agree with Up Against It
I know it's loved by many fans, but I think "The Way It Used To Be" is a defining song from them.
But the biggest one for me is Closer To Heaven. It's a misfire in some ways because the musical used it in parts, when the actual track is strong enough to stand on its own without association. Probably their ultimate example of happy/sad - the elated music mixed with sad lyrics, a thumping chorus and queasily sad verses. The only give away is the OTT ending orchestration which leaves no doubt this is a depressing track!

I haven't read the thread, but from the hip:
Nervously
If there was love (Liza)
Daydreaming (Dusty)
Betrayed
Always
Twentieth Century
Transfer
We're all criminals now
Building a wall
King of Rome
Invisible
Inside a dream
Inner Sanctum
Wiedersehen
Only the dark
Burning the Heather
If Jesus had a sister
The schlager hit parade

Agreed on this 100%. I think the lines you quoted are some of Neil's finest lyrics, and I've found them in my head during various life events. Also up there is the refrain "I'm going out, and carrying on as normal", which I've inevitably found myself doing following those life events.
Brilliant stuff.
