didn't really like the album version of "It's a Right." But that made me blown away by the single version they released months later... So, I'm fine with the album as it is, with all six songs.

And I agree with the comment that it could have been DISCO 2. INTROSPECTIVE has two new songs, and DISCO has none, that's true... But how many new songs does DISCO 3 have? I'm glad it's considered a studio album, but it's a bit of a stretch, isn't it

I've been thinking about this again in light of this thread (though I think Introspective had three new songs - the three singles - not two). It is a bit of a flimsy distinction, especially given the tale from Record Mirror in 1988 that they were actually planning to release a Disco 2 after Actually but then got the hump with EMI for putting Always On My Mind on Now 11.

But one thing Intro has that no Disco, even 3, can claim is that none of the mixes on it had been previously released (I'm not counting Domino Dancing because that was released as part of the album campaign). Disco 3 had four mixes that had already been put out on singles, as well as the unchanged mix of Positive Role Model that had been knocking around for years. So it was still more of a compilation, albeit an incomplete one, than Introspective.

I'm also reminded of this thread from last year: viewtopic.php?p=644343

Love Introspective, but a "Disco 2" with 12 inch mixes, half of which were of NUMBER ONE singles, would have been huge at the time. A misstep.

Perhaps their initial idea was to release DISCO 2, but upon realizing they had two great new songs plus a cover, and considering that "I'm Not Scared" was theirs but sung by Eighth Wonder, they decided that commercially calling it DISCO 2 was a waste and that it would gain traction by releasing it as a new album titled X.

And I think that was the right move.

I knew KSTJ was The KLF doing PSB after being inspired by Left to my own devices but I never realised it was the bass drum from Always on my mind.

Wonder what that tracklisting would've been. I have a 6 track playlist called 'Disco, Actually' which is the following:

1. Heart (Disco Mix)
2. What Have I Don't To Deserve This? (Extended Mix)
3. I Get Excited (You Get Excited Too) [Full Length Further Listening Version]
4. It's A Sin (Disco Mix)
5. Always On My Mind (Extended Dance Mix)
6. Rent (Extended Mix)

This makes a great listening experience, but doesn't quite fit in with the original Disco's concept, as it's all extended versions of the original single mixes, and doesn't include other remixer's versions. So there's probably an alternative to this swapping out one or two of the other remixes (such as Shep's 'What Have I Done To Deserve This?').

However, PSB were at their absolute peak for extended 12" versions at this point, so my above tracklisting would've made a great 'DIsco 2'.

I do wish that a dance version of In My House - and ONLY In My House was somehow available.

Not that this album needs any modification, it's superb.

Really hoping they'll slightly bend the "no singles" rule for the Obscure gigs and end the show with a slightly shorter version of Introspective's 'Always On My Mind / In My House' under the "fan favourite" category.

And also, I absolutely love It's alright version on Introspective. A lesson in acid house. It took me a while to understand it, but once I did... heaven! When that scat improv start (And I'd love to know who did it, it does sound like Trevor Horn but who knows? In my mind I like to think it is Trevor Horn) paradise!!! and then the chorus and the ad libs! You feel it definitely is going to be alright! (Though we all know it won't) Oh and in the end, that like answering machine message and the outro!!! Absofuckinglutely masterpiece.

I think Neil said on an interview he didn't like that version of It's Alright, he had changed it. Do you remember that?

It doesn't mean I don't like this version, by the way.

No, and I doubt he would fill up 9 minutes on one of his albums with a track he didn't like.

What the album version isn't, is a "pop single"... and that's why a radically different 7" mix was required for that purpose.

Both mixes are amazing in their context.
