Surely even a simpleton like you can see the difference between placing your faith in peer-reviewed scientific data and placing your faith in a deity for whom there is no evidence of existence?
I dont believe in things that havn't been proved, my God is proven, its the creator of climate change.
So you do now accept that our actions are having some kind of effect on the Earth.
Have i said otherwise  I also say GW is real, im just not stupid enough to blame all humanity when 50% of our CO2 over the last 200 years has ended up in the sea.
Flooding, mass extinction, that sort of thing. Stuff I know you don't give two hoots about, but everyone else thinks is rather important.
Was it you that showed us how britain would look like if all the ice on earth melted, we'd still have land to live on, whats the problem?

If you feel so strongly about this, stop using your car, electricity, dont go on holiday, sell your tv, pc, radio, hoover :D
Not really. People need to get from A to B.
Need? Humans didn't need to get from A to B donkey's years ago, why now? You'd rather use all the luxuries in life and moan at the same time :D

I say, shut up about humans "destroying the planet", or lets go horse n cart, either way, im not fussed.
There's a tax on it to induce people to use less
Doesn't seem anyway near enough, because theres millions of cars on our roads pumping out "destruction of the earth". Shouldn't petrol be atleast £10 a litre?
Except taxes aren't really going up that much are they?
No? http://www.petrolprices.com/fuel-tax.html
Maybe if taxes start rocketing, then we can all don our tinfoil helmets and start accusing governments of fabricating scare stories to raise revenue
TWO/THIRDS is tax. Its a gradual thing.

You've had your chance
Now we've got the mandate
If you've changed your mind
I'm afraid it's too late.

This pet shop boy is not integral to the project.
Also, as an aside, you have to laugh at the people who think that higher taxes go straight into politicians pockets. Every penny that comes in goes out again in spending.
Every penny? Mp's earn £60,000 a year, £130,000 in exspensies. PM gets around £5,000 a week, ministers get around £2,000 a week. Surely if minimum wage is a good thing, MP's should be on it?

Councillours, theres 22,000 of them, they probably earn £500 a week plus expensies. Parish councillours, people who work for government and councils, were talking billions.

Its not about how much we create in tax, its about how its spent. The government use our taxes to encourage "scientists" to blag us were doing bad.

I heard someone on the radio last night say, that he asked professors at Oxford university about climate change and who/what is to blame, they collectively laughed at the thought humans were to blame. Why dont we hear about their views in detail via the media? Why dont the government give them funding to tell us what the deal is?

Their remedies smack of unadulterated socialism: Tax on cars, tax on Co2, tax on gas. But in the end, the only people feeling the tax rise would be the lower incomers and not the wealthy who can afford any tax raise.
I'm not a communist or an anti-capitalist; in fact, I favour reducing the overall tax burden.

No wonder you're scared to argue with me - I don't fit into your prickish pigeonholes.

So you picked the third, poetic, definition to try and bolster your argument? That's pretty sad you know.
Was it you that showed us how britain would look like if all the ice on earth melted, we'd still have land to live on, whats the problem?
Er, and what about the millions of people underneath the flooded bits? The trillions of pounds worth of property? These things are irrelevant, right?

You are beyond stupid. You are inventing a whole new class of idiot for yourself. It's really sad to see.
Mp's earn £60,000 a year, £130,000 in exspensies. PM gets around £5,000 a week, ministers get around £2,000 a week. Surely if minimum wage is a good thing, MP's should be on it?
There are - what - 600 or so MPs? Hardly breaking the bank is it? So far as paying a decent wage to our elected representatives - believe it or not, many of them are taking a wage cut to go into politics. They are high earners, most of them - lawyers, bankers. If you want the best people to make important decisions that affect the country, you have to pay them a reasonable wage.
Councillours, theres 22,000 of them, they probably earn £500 a week plus expensies.
Oh dear, would you like to back this up with facts? You can't just pull figures out of your ass and expect people to swallow them. Up here, councillors get an allowance of less than £200 a week. For my father, it just about covers what wages he loses out on by taking two days a week off from his job to go to council meetings.
Its not about how much we create in tax, its about how its spent. The government use our taxes to encourage "scientists" to blag us were doing bad.
No, the government uses your taxes to provide services. If you don't like it, sod off and live somewhere else. Lord knows the average IQ of Britain will go up 2 points when you f*ck off.

For the third time, i think. I AM NOT A COMMUNIST! I said that this borgeois liberal democracy, although not perfect is the best system we could have. Hey Alig,

Miss ya buddy. Been telling everyone they are watermelons : green on the outside and
commie on the inside. We all love that. Killin' our selves laughin'. Gag of the week.

That carbon credits are going to be traded in a market exchange here soon in a
country with a neo-con government that makes George 2nd look like a pinkie pussy,
is just an inconvenient truth. We're still all commies aren't we.

I notice last 4 votes are Yes. I wonder if the one in 100 years flood or European heat
wave that killed are the cause. I hear South/West USA is having ultra hot summer
while water levels are falling. Yeah, we know that pattern.

I wonder if any nay-sayers will take responsibility and change.
I pray so.

Give me hope...
Is it fate ..

You can't expect others to act before you do - what if they take the same attitude? Then nobody will ever do anything. Take care of your own waste rather than moaning about other people. Every little helps. Never forget that.

I'm not moaning I'm stating an opinion. The chances are none of the things I listed above will happen, and it is they that should set the example.

When Western nations have made all the crap that pollutes the world,
and Bangladesh and India have flooding that leave X million homeless,
you expect the 3rd world to act first,
it is they that should set the example.
What incredible selfishness.

No, i picked 2 and 3. Why sad, their all worthy descriptions.

You tell lies, thats sad.
Er, and what about the millions of people underneath the flooded bits? The trillions of pounds worth of property? These things are irrelevant, right?
 you think people will stand still (literally) over a period of many years and watch the water drown them :D people will move, like they did when the English channel was created, yes, people used to live where the channel is.

People are loosing their seafront properties already, but i dont see our government stopping this, do you? We could build flood defenses to protect our property.
the government uses your taxes to provide services.
Where do the "scientists" get their funding from?

We spend £1,000,000,000 a year on independent ex service men in iraq :D

The telegraph 11 months ago
"Government spending has helped to pay for a series of high-profile campaigns to promote Labour policies"
"taxpayers were now supporting more than 3,200 press officers and other public relations staff in Whitehall and scores of Government agencies. At the same time, the Government's total spending on advertising, marketing and public relations has soared from £111 million to £322 million since 1997."

Exactly, do as the fascists say, not as they do.

gregf, how big a polluter is India?

yes, you are a communist in denial. there is no such thing as obscene profit. how do you define that? that people investing in business with their hard-earned money shouldn't be getting their share? one year, you make "obscene profit" in order to offset the "oscene deficit" the next year. people must be layed off in order to be competitive. of course state-run businesses don't dare lay people off and that's why they all run on huge deficits.
moan all you want about murdoch but he created plenty of businesses and employments and wages for thousands of people. he laid his fortune on the line to start his own company and this is quite admirable. I bet lots of city councils are glad about the tax his companies bring them.

Face it: Heat waves are nothing new. How on earth do you deduce from that it's humanity's fault? More people die in cold waves and car accidents on slippery roads. You think people with no money would be complaining about a mild winter when they don't have to blow all their cash on heating?
Carbon credits are nothing short of one big scam. I'm sorry to hear that your government buckled and adapted this asinine scam because they are totally useless. They are just the hip new "indulgences." Al Bore buys them from his own company, btw! Isn't that grand? Then he continues squandering 20 times as much energy than the average US household so that energy prices soar in turn. So Al buys carbon credits since he can AFFORD them and gets on with his normal jet set lifestyle. But we who cannot afford carbon credits are supposed to sip water instead while he sips on wine. He's the typical limousine liberal and I cannot believe how many people fall for this GW scam. I feel like some of you cannot get over your western affluence guilt trip. You need to be feeling guilty about yourselves before you can face the day. Get over it. Climate change, droughts, blizzards, floods have always been around. Only socialists and ideologists propagate this crap because they wanna raise taxes on energy. Typical liberal reflex: Tax tax tax!

Is this comment for real? Of course they will move. They will all move inland and cause massive over-crowding. They will live where the food use to grow.

As for people losing their seafront homes, thats just natural erosion. The government cannot do anything about the North Sea eating away rock.
