Vocal CD single dropped this morning, just noticed the spine notes catalogue no. as x2 0002 CD1 - is a 2nd CD planned (more remixes? B-sides?) or nothing been announced yet?

It says x2 0003 CD 1 on the Electric CD so that probably has to do with how much CDs the release holds, not with the fact that it's the first release of many etc.

The remix really is a fantastic one, but it'll probably be annoying to some people. For me, it takes the song to another level, it doesn't surpass the original but it gives it more oomph.

The Drop Jackson mix is excellent

Loved to see that a couple wrote Moist Extended Remix.

Was pleasantly surprised to find a copy of the cd single at my local HMV in Guildford. A bit pricey at £6.99 to be fair and the packaging is OK but nothing really special in my opinion. Not the best bunch of remixes but they are doing the right thing by having a 9 tracker which obviously isn't chartable but it would never have got anywhere anyway.

It simply means it's the first release of that catalogue# - the only "2" so far are the Vocal remixes download (as the 1 track version came first) and the Axis (Boys Noize remix) download.

About the orange colour I just came to think about Nightlife - that orange sure is vibrant, at least on the ltd ed CD.

bizarre really - so vocal is the first proper psb-single ever to miss the uk charts altogether, even surpassing axis' #196 peak...

If:
Axis Vinyl = X2000VL1
Electric Vinyl = X20003VL1
Vocal CD = X20002CD1
Electric CD = X20003CD1

That makes me wonder.
1. What happened to X20001VL1 and X20002VL1?
2. What happened to X2000CD1 and X20001CD1?
They smell like promotional releases to me. Or just consecutive releases. 000 for Axis. 0002 for Vocal and 0003 for Electric. But no 0001? But if if that is not true and they don't exist, strange to only have 2 releases for each format and both are not 0/1 or 1/2. 0/3 for the vinyls and 2/3 for the CDs make no sense for me.

Would anyone know why this is?

The X2 part is their label and the CD1/VL1 is just stating that it's disc/vinyl one of that release. If any releases had a 2nd disc/vinyl they'd be VL2 or CD2. These parts of the product codes are pretty easy to understand.

Axis 12" is in fact "x2 0001 VL1" >> x2 = the label, 0001 = the very first x2 release (all Axis formats should contain this), VL1 = the first vinyl release of Axis.

Since the Vocal vinyl isn't released yet, we haven't seen that cat# yet - it certainly will be "x2 0002 VL1".

There is no "000" release, the first release is "0001" - Axis, as mentioned above.

As there never was an Axis CD, "X20001CD1" (or rather "x2 0001 CD1") hasn't been used, simple as that - we just have 2 download releases ("x2 0001 DL1" and "x2 0001 DL2") and 1 vinyl. It'd certainly be very strange if there were catalogue numbers for releases that don't exist - but if an Axis CD was to be released, it'd be "x2 0001 CD1".

Obviously not - the number of discs have nothing to do with the catalogue# - in that case the Electric LP would be "x2 0003 VL2" when it's in fact "x2 0003 VL1". As stated above VL1 means it's the first vinyl release - if another Electric LP was to be released, say a remix LP, the cat# would end in "VL2". This has already happended with the downloads of Axis (see above) and Vocal.

Leonidas & Hobbes have put 2 of their Vocal-mixes on Soundcloud (Vocal remix and dub) and they are also offering them for a free download from their webpage. Still no sign of the "Instrumental remix" or the "Bonus beats" though.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but the Radio Edit on the promo and the video of Vocal is not the same edits. They have different intros.
