New special Halloween episode out today!
Episode 28 - Halloween
“Graham and Chris make a midnight return to the garden shed to unleash the full horror of the In Depth Halloween podcast! As they exorcise the ghosts, vampires, skeletons and will-o-the-wisps haunting the Pet Shop Boys catalogue, unholy guest appearances abound - from Joan of Arc and Ed Gein to Count Dracula and Francisco Goya. Expect a quest to uncover the spookiest PSB album, a chilling tally of all the ways to die in their videos… and the ominous reveal of a mysterious box unearthed from Graham’s loft. What could possibly be inside?”

Did some catching up yesterday and I wanted to add that the original "Dark end of the street" can be heard in the horror/comedy Weapons.
Also: I got 18 points in the Colours quiz. Does Heart count for the colour grey, since Gandalf the Grey (or White) is in the video?

Never got to see Weapons but it’s on my list. As for your Colours points I realise I was a little harsh on Graham in the episode but should really remain consistent… so I’m sorry… but 15 is a good score

Gandalf the Grey was my first thought, but I chose the Old Grey Whistle Test as answer, which was 1 point.
I was on a roll with red and orange. Both the exact same answers you had

Episode 30 - Thirty
“In a special celebratory 30th episode, Graham and Chris countdown their favourite 30 Pet Shop Boys songs - each a new excuse to fall down the usual rabbit holes of stories and memories! Girls Aloud, Tom Watkins, Dame Anna Neagle, Zelda Fitzgerald, Trevor Horn, TS Eliot and Kermit the Frog each make an appearance, and there’s also time to reappraise those negative reviews of Behaviour, the collapse of the music industry and - you know you really want it - the actual secrets of sexual attraction. But first - the real challenge: agreeing a joint list!”

A great listen, thanks gents. Obviously, everyone will have opinions about your actual Top 30!
For me, omissions from your list that would likely feature in my personal top 30 might include:
The way it used to be
It couldn't happen here
So hard
Your funny uncle
I'm not scared
I made my excuses and left
Integral
To step aside
Miserablism
Love is the law
Love comes quickly
Love is a catastrophe
Jealousy (you don't really have any slower songs / ballads in your list?)
Like you, I would have Left to my own devices, King's Cross, Rent, Being Boring and This must be the place I waited years to leave right near the top of my list.
PS I don't understand why "A new life" is highly regarded by some PSB fans (quite generic and uninteresting to my ears), nor "We all feel better in the dark" (a poor man's Paninaro, although was great in the Performance shows).

Of course this was a combined top 30 so no doubt if we’d have each done our own we’d have had space for some of the above as well.

Could you each post your own Top 30s? Then we can establish who has the better taste in the In Depth studio!

I'm a fan of "A New Life" but mainly because I think about how well it pairs with What have I done to deserve this?
WAFBITD a poor mans Paninaro

yeah, I can see that. It's a pretty intense song, and I like it a lot, but yeah, it's no Paninaro.

Fantastic episode. Really enjoyed your list. I agree that Kings Cross just keeps getting better. There are days when I listen to it on repeat. Definitely up there with Being Boring! Thanks again for your podcasts, makes me feel part of a real community of PSB fanatics!
