Can you or some one get the total Worldwide sales for each of the studio CDs, and the rest of thier cataloge and put them in a FAQ for this forum

the pet shop boys are a pop duo who makes incredible good music, but they don't sell as much as they did in the eightees or the beginning of the nineties.
First, EMI is not very good in marketing, i mean , in france for example, they are not known at all.
but for me the pet shop boys were a goup who sells million of album worlwide before , and it 's a vision of them i still have or i wish to see again !
so they should try with integral to get success again, but i think that they will create a new album after fundamental, with only big dance tunes , likes very.
a lot of people thought like me that they would have made fundamental with most big techno music, but they made a rather smooth album. or indeed an album well equlibrated between dance and ballads (with more ballads)
so i think the next album will only contain massive hit like integral (why not) to change from fundamental and release. then they could get number 2 or number 1, because people would listen to the modern and powerful sound of psb , not sounding 80's , but sounding futuristic.
and then they can still become as famous they were before, because the pet shop boys were a famous popular music duo and they should get out of the picture of a small band that have a little fans and don't sells much album

It's great she's still going strong worldwide, but with artists like "Lil Jon Featuring E-40 & Sean Paul Of The YoungBloodZ" filling up the pop charts, even the best/coolest artists can't compete with that shite!!

I think I like jasonjohn's words better. The Billboard chart is based on airplay more than sales. Had it been sales alone Paul Gamaccini told me I'd have been No.1 for 93 weeks, but as it is some conservative radio stations ddidn't want to play Sorry as they felt the lyrics were being too apologetic about attacking George Bush over Iraq and I should have kicked his ass more.

It'll all be rectified on the next single, I Love Baghdad, with all profits going to the democrats re-election campaign.

Someone mentioned the gay issue and, despite the so-called enlightened age we live in I do believe this has had a huge effect on their sales in the mainstream. There has been a sort of stigma attached to liking PSB and this hasn't affected other bands from their era like DM or New Order. Neil came out after Very came out and look at the results in records sales... But there may well be other factors aswell.

There is a forum to which I am a member and which is on pop music; members are moderaly informed about PSB; anyway when gay issue was put into discussion, some vowed never to listen to PSB again because listening to a gay band was so "uncool". One of them even dared to say that he was so sorry, almost tear-eyed, to quit PSB because they were making incredibly good music but rather than being "labelled" by his friends that he was a "queer listening to queers", he would cut his ears, so to speak.

Think about general public reaction...

I'm sure there's a degree of that, but on the other hand the PSB just haven't been as good since 1994 as they were up to that point. We can't blame everything on homophobia.

And it's ridiculous to say that New Order, Depeche Mode and even Madonna are cool. They're acceptable but this isn't the same thing. Teens don't buy their records and all three only score for the same reason PSB do - a loyal and aging fanbase.

By The way.

Are all of the members of D.MODE gay? I just recently bought thier first cd and did not know they were gay untill i heard "Boy's say Go".Only heard Violator before that and don't rember it having any songs that were gay.

Depeche Mode is actually polari for Basildon Twinks.

I was thinking in the USA the PSB could play Im with stupid on The Daily Show when they come to the states to tour. John Stewart and the viewers of America's biggest nightly news (but really is comedy) show would probally eat it up.
