I'm Alan Partridge - More series 1 than series 2. Though the second series does have it moments, the first is flawless and never misses a beat.

Both fantastic. Went to see Steve Coogan last year in Nottingham and it was a great show. Really need another t.v series.

I rarely watch TV, what I liked in former times was the StarTrek stuff,
especially the 'Voyager' series.

Coincidently enough, I watched the episode of Voyager on Virgin 1 TV this afternoon, where Seven of Nine becomes a member of the crew after being left behind by the Borg.

I can't watch Series 2 of I'm Alan Partridge. The first one is just so perfect that it feels wrong somehow. I should try again because I don't even remember very much about it apart from the mail order bride and his book being pulped. The first one I could probably recite verbatim.

Oh yeah, I can't watch 90s Colombo either. There's just something wrong about it - the quality of the actual film is too good and everyone seems too glossy. Colombo is indubitably of the 1970s.

Yup, the first series is pretty much spot on for being pure comedy gold.

Will list a few of my favourites when I'm not so tiddly.

Not sure which series it was but the episode with the farmers is ace. Especially when he is talking to that guy in the bar that has the voice box.

I thought his t.v series was pretty much spot on as well.

my 2 favorite episodes was the movie producer one with fisher stevens and the one with the 2 college students who murdered their college proffesor remotely with a robotic gun trigger pulling device.

I love when he would come back in a room with the third round of "just one more question sir" which would have the suspect virging on rage.

I always had this sense columbo was most likely written by old writers for its time, it had a sort of 1950's innocence somehow.

The episode with the writers of Father Ted in is really funny...

I definitely recommend series 2 though, give it a chance..especially the 'Bond-athon' one

Partridges face is ledgendary after the guy stops laughing after Alan's comment about Dr No Vocal Chords.

called again, who was placed by 7/9? That girl with that strange
ears who was about 5 or 7 years old (and adult) and who was to-
gether with Neelix? The race was called Ocampa or something ...

The problem with those 90's Columbo's is that they look cheap in only a way that made-for-tv type productions do. Those 70's shows have a quality that seems to transcend the medium. Not to mention that by the 90's Peter Falk was basically playing an absurd caricature version of Columbo.

As for Partridge, the same thing happened in the second series where he was playing a more extreme caricature version of the character and, consequently, lost something of what made Partridge this sad, desperate human being and made him more a comedy creation designed for laughs. However, the second series does have its moments and is at least on a par with youth hosteling with Chris Eubank.
