What is funny about this are the fans who thought it was a good idea. I am glad for that reason that it is not.

so this isnt true now. psb with britney - what a perverted idea! and what should have been the strategy behind such a collaboration: giving bs her first good song or crashing her american career - PSB are very good in both topics! then the Boys would apologize: oops we did it again

Anyone but Britney. Someone with some credibility, please! 5/6 years ago maybe, but not now. I see her as something of a joke these days.

The same site that posted the news item yesterday has a new news item today.

Pet Shop Boys Angrily Denounce Britney Spears Story

Contrary to what we reported yesterday, it turns out that the Pet Shop Boys are in fact not working with Britney Spears.

A comment on the Pet Shops Boys’ official website, under the heading ‘Setting the record straight’, denies any collaboration and simply reads that the story “isn’t true.”

So the Pet Shop Boys, despite having worked with the likes of Robbie Williams and Madonna, are definitely not going to be collaborating with Britney Spears. Fact.

Our excitement for the new Spears album is now dampened as a result…

I wouldn't have classed the PSB response as angry

Some of the problem here is a lack of journalistic integrity in the sensationalistic headlines. IMHO. Not that I would expect anything less from sites like that.

The first article--with the title claiming that they're working together--actually only quotes (if I read it right) that she wishes or would like to work with them. I'd like to work with the PSBs too, just as an example, but that doesn't mean I have any definite plans or reality to it. For all we know it was a sarcastic, even a put down to those who think that she is old and irrelevant (and who else to work with then, than the, er, grammy-nominated Pet Shop Boys?)!

The second article's title claims that the PSBs angrily denounced Spears. They simply said it wasn't true. I don't see anything "angry" about it.

Besides--I think I heard on the radio that britney is working with the guy from the Neptunes again--which might not be a bad thing, but that might be seen as many as a bit 2003, rather than 2007, no?

I'm surprised that Neil and Chris find it necessary to actively deny such a ridiculous rumour. I wish we could have some more interesting news about the songs they're writing or the forthcoming DVD releases :?

Someone wrote that the Pet Shop Boys suck. Maybe they do, but I didn't think their sexuality was part of the discussion.  8)

And someone else said "Am I crazy for having never heard of the Pet Shop Boys?"!!!!!

Nice to see that The Sun is as fast with the non-news as ever:

I love the VickyWatch blog's almost instant correction:

What a bizarre website. They create their own 'news' and own sensations by posting incorrect information and then a 'sensational' follow-up using completely misplaced words like angry. I still don't understand how they turned Britney's remark "I want to work with Pet Shop Boys" into "I am working with Pet Shop Boys". :?

So here's a tip for anyone who wants a sensational weblog:

Create a fictional PSB collaboration story, then wait for the official PSB site to deny it. And post a follow-up. Something like this:
Pet Shop Boys go Pink
After recording "Numb", a Diane Warren song that Aerosmith rejected, Pet Shop Boys now decided to opt for a logical follow-up: their next single will be a cover of the Aerosmith hit "Pink". Singer Steven Tyler confirms it.

Pet Shop Boys love Aerosmith very much. So much, that they approached songwriter Diane Warren to deliver a song for their Greatest Hits album PopArt. Needless to say that pink is the favourite colour of Neil and Chris. "I once spoke to Neil and Chris after a concert", Steven Tyler confirms.
Then:
No pink
The following article [link] is untrue. We wouldn't like you to believe it. Besides that, our favourite colours are red and blue, hence our songs 'A Red Letter Day' and 'Blue On Blue'.
Then:
PSB furious about Pink news
Contrary to what we reported yesterday, it turns out that the Pet Shop Boys are in fact not working on a cover of the Aerosmith song 'Pink'.

A comment on the Pet Shop Boys’ official website, under the heading ‘No pink', denies any collaboration and simply reads that the story 'is untrue'.

So the Pet Shop Boys, despite having covered Go West, Always On My Mind, Somewhere and Where The Streets Have No Name, are definitely not going to do a cover of Pink. Fact.

Our excitement is now dampened as a result...
Tiring....

In fact the Sun article is nearly as bizarre:
BRITNEY SPEARS has described her new single life as “awesome”. I just wonder what’s it like for her two kids when she’s out on the lash and flashing her undercarriage. The singer, who is divorcing KEVIN FEDERLINE, says she’s happy to be a free woman again enjoying New York Fashion Week – and the local ale.

But it can’t all be “awesome”. I can reveal Britney’s bid to work with the PET SHOP BOYS has failed. CHRIS LOWE and NEIL TENNANT don’t rate any of her songs so they said a polite “no.” Previously, they’ve collaborated with KYLIE MINOGUE, TINA TURNER, DUSTY SPRINGFIELD and LIZA MINNELLI.
A link-up with THE KILLERS is next, and I can’t imagine they need a knickerless Britney cluttering up the studio.
What's this bold sentence based upon? PSB did NOT make any comment about Britney's music at all, and it is highly doubtful that they were ever officially approached by Britney. Ridiculous.

Victoria Newton is known to talk utter bullshit! She says she has "exclusives" when in fact she just gets her stuff off from other sources.

People on the Popjustice forums loathe her!

Hence that vickywatch blog thing. Somebody's created it to take the piss out of her and to dispell anything she says.

That's taking the Mik - 26th January
The irony of the headline is almost painful. Third time unlucky for Vicky this week when it comes to bleating about Mika. She once again calls Grace Kelly his "debut single", and also repeats her shameless lie of being the one who "revealed" that Mika would be modelling for Paul Smith, despite the fact that this news was appearing elsewhere in the press at least six weeks ago.

Now we can add another bogus "reveal", with

"I can also reveal Mika has landed his first major festival date — California’s Coachella in April."

in spite of the fact that the lineup for the festival was announced to the world 5 days ago and Mika's name was very much on the list, and even on the poster (fifth from last on the bill on the last day, but it's a start I suppose...)

another one:
Lily urges you to help find pet
"Lily has been hit by the heartbreaking news while on holiday in Jamaica and immediately asked my army of Bizarre readers to help find her ailing pet."

Never one to shy away from clawing for a bit of kudos when it comes to someone else's misery, Vicky wasn't asked for "my army" to help out, as this entire article is just paraphrased and/or quoted from Lily's latest MySpace blog entry.

See?
