PSBs SIGN NEW RECORD DEAL

I actually agree with dVTB -- if Parlophone chose to sign with PSB again, there must be a 1-CD Greatest Hits coming and they must have a share in PSB's live and merchandise earnings. On the other hand, I hope PSB ensured that their records will be actually promoted by EMI. Mike Oldfield's career since about Ommadawn was doomed by the constant struggle against the labels to actually promote the albums (with a short break for Tubular Bells II, of course).

Tubular Bells II was Oldfield's ace card when he sought a new contract, and subsequently signed to Warner ... WEA pushed TB II hard and they did 2 million odd copies.
I can't see that PSB got anything like the deal they got in 1990 when they re-signed with EMI, back then even arty albums like Behaviour did 2 million.

Exactly what I'm saying -- TB2 was the only album anyone was willing to promote. Then after some half-arsed effort for "Songs of the Distant Earth" Oldfield promptly floated back into obscurity, because labels just weren't interested in whatever he had to deliver, including TB3.
So -- no idea what their new contract looks like, I just hope they made sure whatever they come up with will get a nice promotional budget.
