Its an issue because homosexuals are allowed to be hetrophobic, its unfair to have an unequal rule system.
What makes you think so? The forum rules say:
The posting of racist/homophobic/sexist or other such bigotry is forbidden. This is a multicultural forum, and such actions cannot be tolerated.
Besides that, I didn't see heterophobic commens from homosexuals. Perhaps you can point out any on this forum?

What about those who are bothered by little things, and don't want to mix these intolerant beliefs with PSB?
There are rules on this forum about attacking others.

STEVE
Freedom of speech is a bit like communism; it's a utopia that will never be achieved because human nature won't allow it.
That doesn't mean we cant have more than we do.
People like you insist on purging their heads of all their dark demonic thought without regard to anyone else.
Dont just attack me, give reason for uneducated words.
Although I agree with you, I don't let strangers ignorance bother me(which is why I'm simply rolling my eyes at you)

I was a kid once, and if I wanted to talk about PSB or anything I would be scared away by people like you.
 You dont know me, but portray a belief that you know me very well, weird.
If you can't handle sharing, and being courteous
How big is that hole you've now dug

If YOU cant share and be courteous with ME.....it works both ways dude.

A. why doesn't the rule just say no bigotry?
B. depends what you mean by bigotry?
Besides that, I didn't see heterophobic commens from homosexuals. Perhaps you can point out any on this forum?
Although i abide by the rules here, i agree with hetrophobic comments, as i agree with homosexuals disliking hetrosexuals.

Im trying to say that we should all be allowed to dislike whoever we like, its a fundamental human right.

pet shop boy, you don't seem to understand that the words "disliking" and "posting comments" have a different meaning. Honestly, there's no point in continuing this non-issue.

I'd rather discuss ACTUAL moderation problems, before this topic gets out of hand once again and will be closed.

So the little kid should accept ignorance by your rationale? Did you not understand what I wrote? All public discussion where you don't know who you're communicating with must be spoken with respect to the safest denominator.

It's like smoking, you're putting crap into the public spere. Some have made smart decisions and don't want to suffer from others bad ones, so the smokers are herded into their own safe zones where they can pollute eachother. Don't bother attacking my post with your ridiculous multiple quotations, cos your argument is ignorant and selfish. I don't know if you are personally, maybe you're being the devil's advocate, but you're arguing a moot point.

Eh? What is that all about, you've completely lost me here.

Why have you skirted around my questions?

Okay. It's time we told you all the truth.

Pet Shop Boy is not a real human. It is an A.I. bot we have developed, a piece of software
that replies to postings with other randomly selected questions.

It has algorithms to not make too many replies, at least not too many more than it receives.

But it is not very clever. If you insult it, it insults you back but if you are helpful to it,
it can not recognise that, and goes into a neutral mode. We really thought that when
it calls you a socialist one day and a fascist the next, that would give the game away.

We had trouble developing it to be more than say a 13 year old, but thought we would
run it a few months to see how many people we could fool.

Sorry for the big practical joke everyone. We will turn it off now.

psb 1.0 Initial release.
psb 1.1 Fixed bug in formatting responses quoting others.
psb 1.2 Added large font in replies.
psb 1.3 Enhanced to recognise moderator and shout "Steve, abuse".

Terrific post gregf - I thought Pet Shop Boy couldn't possibly be such an ignorant real person - although I was swayed by an earlier posting that perhaps he'd left a decimal point out of his age - but finding out he is just a dumb robot is such a relief.
Thanks!

That's exactly what I was afraid of, yes. You don't seem to understand that "disliking" gays (or whatever) is not against any rule on this forum. You only cannot post comments containing such a message. But apparently, I'm talking Chinese, since I tried to explain this 3-4 times now.

As for your question. The words "other such bigotry" cover all similar forms of bigotry that this forum can be confronted with. The fact that the word "homophobic" is mentioned seperately, does NOT mean that heterophobic comments ARE allowed. You're looking for a problem that doesn't exist. It's a theoretical, as well as a practical non-issue, since I never noticed any heterophobic comments on this forum.

I still suggest to use this topic to discuss ACTUAL problems, like banned ex-members returning, trolls and unnecessarily closed topics.

When dVTB points out that the rest of us don't want to be intolerant towards homosexuals Pet Shop Boy complains that this is a personal attack.

Just to clarify everyone - he is fighting for his right to be homophobic.

Ahh i get you now, you're saying that hetrophobia is bigotry
(EDIT) that posting hetrophobic comments is bigotry

What definition of bigotry does this websites rules use?

Why is it such a bad thing for a homosexual to post a comment saying he doesn't like a hetrosexual?

Because heterosexuals, as well as homosexuals, come here to enjoy this forum, rather than being confronted with insults and useless remarks. This is not a forum about sexual preferences, nor is it a discussion forum about which forms of sex should be allowed.

Because it would generally be seen as being wrong - just as homphobia and racism etc etc would be, none of which society (including this forum specifically) sees as acceptable even where freedom of speech is generally held as being in place.

The reason it isn't mentioned is because a/ it never happens and b/ it presumes that members will act in a proper manner to all others - just as it doesn't mention bigotry against people with red cars, or brown hair etc etc.

If you want to be a bigot, whichever way your bigotry is inclined, I suggest you bog off and find a place where bigots gather and slag off as many different strands of society as they can - because it won't be welcome here.

I'd wait for gregf and his team to update psb to 1.4 before continuing this argument. Apparently the update adds advanced english comprehension to its A.I and removes a few bugs here and there such as the heterophobia infinite loop bug.
