Yay for the three Irish boxers who reached the semi-finals!! They're all guaranteed at least bronze medals. These are only medals Ireland has won so far in this Olympics.Says a lot when the only thing we're any good at is fighting! :D

BMX ... adults on toy bikes.
Three cycling events (that we won gold) were dropped to include BMX.

On a more serious note, I think tennis and soccer should be dropped.
They have other major international events and no one is taking notice.

Bring back more classical events such as chariot racing, I say.
I am sure some may want even more authenticity, like all men participating naked.

Wow again! What a performance by the Jamaicans, and not just Usain Bolt... Another world record annihilated!

I think it's almost the same every time.
China, USA, Russia,The U.K., Germany...

People think about sport, but they should think about the planet and God.

The planet? Yes. But the less they think about "God", the better.

They also dropped the event in which Chris Hoy won gold, so he went and won three golds in different ones.

Yeah, UK did well. Congratulations.

I did hear talk that Olympics in London will be scaled down a bit
because it is considered to have got too big.

Well if the abysmal hand-over 'piece' is anything to go by, it'll be cheap and nasty like our modern culture. Leona Lewis caterwauling over Chairman Page's riff, David Beckham smiling and kicking a solitary ball into the stadium (haven't you got a match this weekend?), an ugly modern bus (I'm rather surprised it wasn't a bendy bus) and er, that's about it really. Genius.

Set against the Chinese performances, it looked like a local amateur dramatic society had wandered on-stage at the RSC. And then there's this afternoon's concert which appears to have been an attempt to assemble as many c***s on one bill as possible.

I never supported these Olympics as China spent so much money because they have companies from all over the world buying their products made in China. That is really wrong and should be stopped. The world is making China rich and that is why they claim that London can't spend like the way China did. I still think that London can put on a great show, even better than the flying man lighting the cauldron.

um it's called capitalism, many countries practice it. I love the irony of someone from Monaco one of the worlds tax havens denouncing it

You'll be ditching your Chinese-made iPod and computer then, I suppose?

Exactly. Nothing is being made in Japan anymore, Dipso? I don't have an ipod anyway. But I can understand some things being made there, but every big major store having all of their items made in China is a bit much. The US not having anything hardly made in the US and on and on. Anyway this thread is not about that. The next Summer Olympics will be long awaited and I will make sure to be there.

Yeah, f*** it. Lets stop buying products from other countries. We can manufacture our own coffee too. Balls to the third world countries. Let them starve. No money = No golds in the long distance running = more golds for us. We must buy British only

For the record, i've just put my foot through my £1000 t.v. It was disgusting of me to fund the Chinese.

Off to blow up all the Chinese Takeaways.
