It didn't even start, did it? Wasn't it the Scunthorpe MP who claimed back a mortgage he never had? Surely thats fraud.

The Grimsby MP, Austin Mitchell, claimed for a jar of pickles and a packet of biscuits We can let him off with that, i reckon. He's actually a very good MP. A rare breed.

Fair enough, but you can't say you were old enough at any point in Thatcher's reign to properly know what was going on. You weren't born at the time of the miners strike, were no doubt still in nappies in the time of the Poll tax, and were two years old when she was forced out, so I can't get my head around the posting of a video as some kind of answer to our problems that you can't actually relate to because of your age.

If you were rich under her reign you were perfectly happy - everyone else got trampled on, everyone else were treated like something you'd scrape off your shoe. I shudder to think of the prospect of another Tory government, and although Labour have had their failings I'd hate to think the general public are stupid enough to vote them out because of a worldwide recession that was totally out of their control, although I suspect it may well happen. God help us if it does.

In the first year after he was elected, Mr Malik set about furnishing and refurbishing his London flat, claiming £21,634 in allowances while having modest mortgage interest repayments of £347.50 per month. Some of his expenses claims brought him into conflict with the fees office.

He submitted a bill for £2,100 for a Sony 40in flatscreen TV, only to be told that the maximum allowable claim for televisions was £750. He told the fees office that he was “very upset” at their stance, saying that no one had told him there was a limit on what he could spend. Internal emails between officials in the fees office show that civil servants were taken aback.

“I do not remember him asking if there were limits on a television, just if he could purchase one,” wrote one. “He did not say he was purchasing a £2,100 TV, let alone a 40in plasma one.” A more senior official agreed that “£2,100 for a television is luxurious by anyone’s standards”.

Mr Malik pursued the matter and wrote a letter in March 2006 in which he stated that because no one had told him there was a limit on what he could spend, “from a natural justice perspective I feel a justifiable exception would be the fairest manner to deal with the current situation”.

The fees office refused to reimburse him in full but eventually agreed to give him £1,050: half the cost of the plasma TV, together with £250 for a home cinema system which had cost him £500. His total spending on furnishings in 2005-6 was £6,147, including £240 for wardrobes, £240 for hi-fi speakers and £239 for a dishwasher. In 2006-7 another £1,521 was claimed for furnishings and fittings, including a £671 fireplace, then in 2007-8 Mr Malik spent another £6,274 on household items, including £1,420 for a bathroom, £730 for a massage chair and £510 for a fitted wardrobe.

In honour of Malik, I shall be asking girls if they will sleep with me from a natural justice perspective.

I fail to see how life will be any better with David Cameron as Prime Minister. The last Tory government was as mired in sleaze as the current one is.

It won't - it'll be worse, but people will be blinded by current issues and not realise the problems they're going to cause for themselves and everyone else who isn't well to do in the process of letting the Tories back in. Those on the minimum wage will really suffer when the Tories show their true colours and scrap it, the NHS is bound to suffer and perceived anti-toff laws like the fox hunting ban will be overturned, no doubt amongst countless other changes and cuts that will hit the common man hard. Welcome back to Britain under a Tory government. I feel sick just thinking about it.

The main point is, although the Tories could be just as bad, if labour do get voted to serve another term, they will take it as a vote of confidence from the people and assume that we have given them permission to carry on with the cack handed way they have run this country into the ground.

We MUST have a new government (no matter who they are) to at least give the people of this country some sense of actually being in control of something, no matter what little difference it will make in the long run.

Oh, and can someone note the date I type this, I predict the UKIP and possibly even BNP getting seats either in the UK or European Parliament in the near future, if this rumbles on for much longer and nothing of substance is done about it ......
