Neil is trembling.

And the hat makes him look like Worzel Gummidge.

No wonder Chris had nothing left to give for the rest of their live career. He put it all in for the one performance.

Let's face it, at any moment, there, Neil is about to announce "Foul stroke, four, Jimmy Savile."

Drico.

Loved that performance. Remember seeing it at the time. It’s the performance that got me “in” to the Boys. Amazingly, at the time, West end Girls and Love Comes Quickly has passed me by but after seeing that performance and hearing Opportunities I was hooked! Went down to Woolies the following day after school and got the 12” with its “over 23 minutes of music” sticker on it and then bought “Please” the following week.

This is actually the 2nd performance of Suburbia (16th October) when it reached no.8, co-presented by Simon Bates and Steve Wright.

Their first studio performance of Suburbia from October 2nd will not be shown as it’s been ‘Smithed’.

Are they different performances? I've seen the one where Neil is wearing a leather jacket.

The thing I don't get about the Smith veto is how the presenter actually has the power to do that? Mate, you read out the chart positions, made some crap jokes and introduced the number one. They may as well have asked the best boy's permission to air each episode.

Yes, 2 different performances. The one that is Smithed and is on the PSB BBC DVD is the black leather jacket - the October 2nd performance.

The 2nd performance from October 16th is this one:-

It’s utter madness isn’t it. At the very least they should have just edited out all of his links and just left the performances intact. But I guess that’s too much editing time that they can’t justify. I don’t imagine they have huge ratings for these repeats!

Just a gentle remind that PSB's remastered appearance on Top of the Pops from 16 October 1986 performing Suburbia is broadcast tonight at 19:30 on BBC4. This performance of Suburbia is not included on the Ultimate DVD.

Neil's strange half-dance, half-march is most amusing.

Lots of big tunes in the Top Ten - Walk Like an Egyptian, Suburbia 8) , Don't Leave Me This Way, You Can Call Me Al and Rain or Shine.
