I agree that PSB do have a few problematic acquaintances. I don't know that they would necessarily feel they'd need to grandstand about cutting ties with anyone though.

Considering they've blocked me on Instagram for expressing disappointment in the perpetual re-casting of Frances Barber, they appear to take great pride in their problematic friendships. I guess they think everyone is cancelled in some way, so why care. Being friends with someone in their private life is perfectly fine - choosing who you highlight professionally and who you put your name behind is another thing completely.

Neil strikes me as someone who likes being friends with famous people. It's part of why they went off the boil in the 90s - sitting in The Groucho Club thinking your famous friends are more interesting than they really are. I blame cocaine.

I’m not going to comment on David Walliams since don't know anything, but in cases like P. Diddy’s, it's hypocrisy and typical American double standards. Everyone involved was consenting and paid. The Weinstein and Epstein cases showed how the system can be used to extract money from the rich and powerful, with the government sponsoring organised criminality through settlements and payouts. Anyone can blackmail a famous person these days.

Well the person managing the acc probably did. I can understand famous people trying to limit backlash, or protect the people they work with. Probably not pride.

Francis Barber isn't my favourite, but I don't think anyone deserves to be completely cancelled for thinking (wrongly or rightly) they need to speak up for women's spaces - these things are lived experiences just as much as trans.

I don't think she should be cancelled for her views but there's definitely something off about PSB continuing to work with someone with those views, considering their own position. It seems contradictory, although I suspect her politics are well aligned with Neil's, so that's probably the reason.

"Completely cancelled" doesn't mean anything, people in the public eye are not immune to criticism. Your characterisation of her position is absurd. Another curious dimension is their friendship with the similarly transphobic and also very racist Tracey Ann Obermann.

Of course not. But some are talking about preventing people from being friends, or working with others, though right?

Critique away with counter points to whatever they said, but I haven't heard anything outright hateful. Wanting to protect women's spaces isn't hateful, even if they are somewhat wrong about some points.
