Friend of mine had his Amazon pre-order cancelled due to a 'lack of availability' ... anyone else?

Hi Marie

Plenty of other stores should be selling it in due course … quite a way off for publication date so I wouldn’t worry just yet

But you don’t have to be a member of Amazon to use Amazon… it’s just an online store…

Amazon is immoral. No one should support it. They monopolise the market.
They match prices of competitors in an effort to drive them out, then after the competitors are bankrupt and out of business they no longer have to match prices so the consumer has to pay more and has less options to choose from.
Why would you choose to enrich the 1% instead of a smaller business with ambition and promise.
Jeff Bezos is one of the richest men to ever exist. If you choose Amazon you're giving your money to him instead of your neighbour.
Amazon also (unsurprisingly) has questionable employee practises, where they're not able to go have bathroom breaks. The human suffering and corruption isn't worth the negligible amount of savings. From what I've seen, the competitors offer the same thing at the same price for the most part. Which to me really makes me question why anyone would choose Amazon in favour of someone who actually needs the business.
Plus it's not like it's even a higher quality service. I ordered a CD from Amazon that never arrived.
It was Mark Reeder – Collaborator. I'm still not over that. Amazon is rotten. It's wrong to give too much power to 1 entity.
I would only buy from there if it's not available elsewhere, and even then I probably wouldn't. More people need to boycott Amazon. Jeff Bezos is (was) cruel to his employees and encourages others to also be harsh to their coworkers. It's immoral.

I’ll buy it from Waterstones. No need to pre-order it too far in advance, it’ll be on general sale.

Capitalism rewards innovation and drives the human race forwards. It could be argued that without it we'd all still be hunter gatherers and living in caves. Amazon has a better customer offer than the majority of their competition and so will continue to dominate until someone comes up with something better.
