They do do alot of cover versions I'm surprised others haven't followed is there money to be made when you haven't written it yourself?

They added a middle section to ‘Go West’ and accordingly have a co-write credit.

I remember spinning up Very for the first time. Probably my first CD that I actually bought and wanted. It was magical, but I also remember thinking it was quite streamlined in production, compared to the textures of Discography, At first listen I didn't really understand their angle on Go West, even though everything was marvellously fresh.

I believe Psb withhold the idea Go West is about gay utopia. At least their version of the song is, thus the closing number on Very.

Victor Willis threatened to sue everyone claiming the are gay references in his songs, after many years of appropriating gay culture and making millions of Village People. He's suddenly gone into blackmailing. First he filed a lawsuit against the current line up of Village People for using his picture illegally. Then he went after Donald Trump for using YMCA without his permission. Then after a sudden change of heart - he was on stage performing YMCA for Donald Trump together with the band.

Does this seem like a guy fit to be in a position to dictate rules for Neil Tennant of what to say or do? Like he's going to be undefeatable in court. Should they delete Go West from their catalogue instead of taking up the fight with Willis?

I dont know how it works in detail but it seams that Warner Music Group is responsible for obtaining
authorization to use music for the Pet Shop Boys (or the movie Company for the Blue-ray). So it would not be PSB to pay for in worst case, in my humble view, its not them doing all the legal work etc. and Warner takes good money for this service as well. Its of course a reputational damage...Probably more to Willis for being dramatic over nothing.

P.S Going after PSB on a personal level could in fact trigger a counter suit - on a much higher amount! Willis is taking a big risk in my view. If PSB wins counter suit - then willis have to pay for the delay, loss of income, reputational and emotional distress etc etc. + 100 million?

Why would they do that? It's not even Putin owning them by the balls here, just a mentally instable showbiz freak who's had no success using extortion on anyone else. Only prevented Psb from playing one of their biggest hits and crowd pleasers. Why should they kneel infront of him?
