Agree about the mixes you've singled out though that era also gave us the BIR mix of Go West, two good Beatmasters 12" mixes of IWN, the Jam and Spoon version of Young Offender and two good 12" versions of Yesterday so it wasn't all bad on the remix front. (Also I love the Rollo remix of Ab Fab but might be on my own there.) It does rather make you think that Disco 2 could have been, if not a masterpiece, then certainly better if they'd chosen maybe the six best and run them to full length.

The worst and most cringey thing on Disco 2 for me is actually the looped fake orgasm on the last track. Imagine being in the car with your parents and that comes on. Scarring.

Better that than your parents finding your promo Before 12” two years later! 🍆

1 - flawless
3 - it's crazy, an albums worth of material here. Positive Role Model not being a single is criminal
4 - love the mixes here
2 - Overtime find it disposable, cept for the unbelievable "Absolutely Fabulous" (Rollo Our Tribe Tongue-In Cheek Mix)
5 - yet to hear :o why is there no wikipedia page yet? have the fans given up?

after all this talk of disco 2...quality...

i went back and listened to it again.. i still like it..

but thats because i wasn't into electronic dance music, and remixers at the time.

now i hate hip hop, rap, soul and all that, but the beats and the music were good enough..

===

challenge : make a disco 2 thats decent for other people...

---------
1 i went back and made it instrumental, that sounds better in some ways... for some parts.

will post it if there's interest

2 i'm going through individual mixes, and going to try to make my own megamix out of them..

coming soon..

this album is exactly like what a club remix would be like, not a pop one..
its more to be played in the background, or at a party, where you're not listening
closely to the tracks.. if you were, you wouldn't actually hear verses or choruses...

which is the main part of most of the songs, also you're hearing a lot of other people singing,
backup vocalists, rappers etc...

and yeah, i don't like the intro or the outro of the original either.. or the slow ballad parts, reggae, either.

#1 Disco - except for that high pitch "le le le le le le le le le le" in Opportunities
#2 Disco 3 - The surprise album which really should be classed as a proper one if Introspective is.
#3 Disco 4 - I've already got the best tracks on CD singles from their original releases, but at least they are on one CD here
#4 Disco 5 - I'm actually really liking this having listened several times, this might move up to #3 at some point
#5 Disco 2 - Or Disco Poo as I call it.

not trying to salvage or defend disco 2..

but it might be easier on the ears .... no samples, no moans, no rap, just beats, and instruments..

pet shop boys - disco 2 (instrumental megamix) same length as the original:

here is my alternate disco 2 version..

lots of bsides, promo only mixes, and the best (to me) mix of the
main songs.

the voxigen mix of i wouldnt normally do this kind of thing,
go west (sunny beach vocal), and being boring (jefferson mix) are among their best of all time..
even west end girls is superior to almost every mix of it, and is my go to and favorite over the original.

1 we all feel better in the dark 4:00
2 west end girls (sasha mix) 7:47
3 some speculation 6:33
4 i want to wake up (breakdown mix) 6:00
5 so hard (12 inch) 6:26
6 being boring (marshall jefferson 12 inch mix) 9:03
7 losing my mind 4:34
8 it must be obvious 4:24
9 can you forgive her (mk remix edit) 4:04
10 go west (sunny beach vocal) 6:03
11 music for boys 3:36
12 shameless 5:03
13 too many people 4:18
14 it doesn't often snow at christmas 4:01
15 absolutely fabulous (single version) 3:45
16 euroboy 4:27
17 i wouldn't normally do this kind of thing (voxigen mix) 6:24
18 yesterday when i was mad 6:41
19 decadance 3:56

That’s certainly an eclectic mix!
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning. :|
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.
