Pet Shop Boys Community

I don't want to burst anyone's balloon, but I personally can't recall the last time I was so unexcited and underwhelmed about a Pet Shop Boys item. I fear we really are in jumping the shark territory here, but that's just me...

I'm sorry but whoever bought these please explain to me how these make sense yet the teasets didn't?

I don't understand the confusion here - not everything is for everybody and that's fine. It's a mistake to assume that every PSB move is aimed at fans. What we're seeing is a broader cultural embrace of the Pet Shop Boys, with things tailored for different audiences. There's a huge skateboard-as-art community that collects boards, displays them on their walls as art objects etc. We should be chuffed this community has taken an interest. This is like Zara doing fashion shirts, Anti Social Social Club doing hoodies etc. These things represent the Pet Shop Boys being invited into new spaces, not Pet Shop Boys fleecing existing fans.

I bought them because I liked them. I have no particular interest in skateboarding but these are art and are going to look great in a box frame on my wall.

I’ve taken a screenshot of the Boys’ website with the decks featured on the front page and will stick it on the back of the frame to add a bit of context for whoever gets them at some stage in the future.

Don't get me wrong, I agree in principle. These are fine looking AND the 17 year old me probably wouldn't have blinked twice to buy them.

I lost interest in collecting bog-standard PSB stuff a long time ago. What interests me now are the more unique items, the outstanding pieces that are elusive now or probably will be in the future.

I own the tea-set and ordered the skateboards. I ordered the limited Volume slipcase. I have several lithographs, the illusive issue 42 of Literally, a promo dunce cap from the Very launch party, all the Annuallys, the Electric playbutton, the Nonetheless Zoetrope, the incredible gold 7" from electronic sound, the Billie Trix promo CD, even a signed copy of The Dairy Book of Home Management!
