I didn't know that, I was sure they were fan of psb. By the way do I recall bad or a lot of time ago Hot Chip opened concerto for psb? I think in 2006...

Paul Oakenfold had good taste in mixing tracks together, but never saw him a great producer or remixer.

I love some of his remixes, for example the ones he did of “Cloud Eight” by Frazier Chorus.

I was surprised to read that Hot Chip are allegedly dismissive of PSB. I’ve been a fan of Hot Chip for years and appreciate that they seem like pretty down-to-earth, cool guys. They’re also a really good live band.

All three of the new Alexis Taylor solo singles are great as well. I’m looking forward to his new album Paris in the spring.

Thinking about it, he shouldn’t just remix PSB — he could also produce some new tracks for them. He knows how to write massive melodies, plays synths as well as multiple other instruments, and has already produced for other artists. I’m actually puzzled that there hasn’t already been some sort of connection. In the beginning, Roosevelt was signed to Greco-Roman, which PSB surely must have noticed.

It absolutely is. And yes, he regularly mentions, and sometimes plays, PSB on his weekly podcast show.

YES!! I loved Frazier Chorus. Two albums, a mini lp and that was it. Not a duff track released by them. Martin Freeman’s older brother by the way.

As a Hot Chip fan along with Tracey Thorn/Ben Watt/EBTG then did remix Tracey Thorn's cover of 'Kings Cross' from 2007. So in a way...



Boards Of Canada, Aphex Twin, The Orb and Four Tet remixing PSB would be interesting but highly unlikely. BOC are elusive and go a fair time between releases and have only done a handful of selective remixes.

Anyone notice that the opening 12 seconds of 'Happy People' sounds like a BOCish interlude?

What about Orbital? Them performing 'Chime' unplugged on TOTP the same year as 'So Hard' made me a young fan of electronic music.

The dub of heart that he did though is amazing. If you look at the sleeve notes its credited to shep but he did the work. ...was also shocked to discover he is now nearly 80!!

Yes the intro tot Happy People sounds very BOC Ish.

The intro tot one of the Seriously remixes always reminders me of an Aphex Twin intro.

Orbital remixing them would je very interesting.

Oh absolutely this! FourTet's mix of CHVCHES "Leave a Trace" was/is absolutely amazing in a club. That ecstatic sub bass breaks your ears.

To be honest, I'd much sooner Neil and Chris left Oakenfold to his own devices, as it were. Despite the hype he's really not a great DJ and aside from the odd standout one or two - see Grace's "Not Over", New Order's "World" or U2's "Even Better Than The Real Thing", most of his remixes are naff. I always use Sasha's take on West End Girls as a benchmark as he literally took a classic and completely reinvented it in 1993 for the emerging progressive house scene coming out of that whole Renaissance period. Still sounds great today.

Aside from another Sasha remix, I'd love an updated Frankie Wah breaks mix of Love Comes Quickly or Being Boring, and I'd also love to see Because of Art, Ranj Kaler, Ezequiel Arias, or Jex Opolis have a crack at a remix.

I agree Way Out West would have been fantastic. And I'd add Underworld and Junior Boys.
