You cannot strip away the lyrics from the music, just because it does not support your crazy statements about 'most' Pet Shop Boys songs being 'happy'.
The lyrics are an integral part of the Pet Shop Boys music - are you saying we should just ignore them? Why, because it doesnt support your point of view?
The lyrics add real meaning to an otherwise abstract sound.

Ummm... what is ridiculous?
Of course music can give you an emotional lift, but if you are talking about the Pet Shop Boys, they *cannot* be characterised as 'happy' song writers.
The vast majority of their work has depressing undertones. Which you apparently refuse to acknowledge.
You have either misunderstood their work, or just dont get it. I suspect its the latter.

Happiness writes white, wrote Tolstoy. It always easier and usually more rewarding to write about the sadder states of existance. Besides, a sad pop song can still make the listener feel exuberant.

Where exactly did I say there was anything wrong with happiness?
What I said was this: happiness is not a common theme in Pet Shop Boys songs.
If you would like to engage me on this point, feel free, rather than debating something I clearly did not say.
