Miss those days when that was the first way to hear the track.

Me too..!!

I too love So Hard, but remember the disappointment when I heard it for the first time. It was clear that the album(Behaviour) wasn't going to be like previous offerings, with big sounding singles etc. Of course, years later I appreciate Behaviour more than ever for it's subtlety and tonality. If I was being controversial I'd add that So Hard is to Behaviour what A Face Like That is to Elysiumn...

I remember going to my local Woolworths on release day after I'd finished 6th Form for the day to buy the CD, 7" and 12". Boy I feel old!

I was going to University when this came out. As a matter of fact, it was the start of the Autumn semester. There was a small music store near the campus and that's where I bought the 12" and CD single. I must admit, their album Behavior wasn't what I was expecting, but the album really matured well over the past 25 years!

My ex Tom and I have quoted the 'smoking' lines to each other for years, sometimes sung and sometimes with the actions too. We both fell in love with this when it was released.

I ordered the US 12" from Esprit and it arrived on the Saturday 22nd.

Was well chuffed I had the record a couple days before release and that it had a slightly different sleeve to the UK release.

Needless to say I skipped 6th form on the day of release to go and buy the UK copies.

Happy days

Bought on cassette single during my school lunch break and played it for the first time in the car when my Dad stopped off at the garden centre on the way home!
Blown away by those synths!

When this single came out I was going to a university. I remember going to the local music store, buying the CD single and then listening to it back i my dorm room. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it given everything we'd gotten before from them. The sound was definitely different and it was just a glimpse of what we were about to get with Behavior.

What an era. Chris has stated publicly that he doesn't like this song and did not feel it should have been on "Behaviour". He did state though, he loves the "Red Zone" remixes. I wonder "So Hard" will actually be on the upcoming greatest hits tour?

But for me the best part of this songs is:

"I'm always hoping you'll be faithful
but you're not I suppose
We've both given up smoking 'cause it's fatal
so whose matches are those?"

Their last self-penned UK Top 5 hit.
