the most frustrating thing for me is when we finally hear all the tracks for the CD we are all like YEAH! this track is incredible,its brilliant its the best thing they have ever done!!!

then, right on time, there is always that dissenting view from some poster that says I think it sucks and is terrible. and the wind just goes out of you.

I must agree with some people here. After 'Behaviour', the albums were all below par (imo). Sure, 'Very' had catchy tunes, but the sounds used sounded to me like standard presets on heavily used synths anywhere. 'Bilingual'... Messy production. 'Up against it' sounds like a weak demo compared to other tracks on the album. 'Nightlife' was better and gave me some hope, but still something was missing. 'Release' is the weakest album they ever did, I still don't like hearing it, I have to turn it off... (except for 'Love is a catastrophe' which could have been produced better).
But....
I am very much looking forward to 'Fundamental'. Having been to the Trevor Horn concert last year and knowing what that man is capable of, and knowing what PSB are capable of, I think it might be the album I've been waiting for from them after all these years!

You're right about Psychological, Enrique. It haven't created much buzz around here, and that is understandable. I'm not very impressed with it either. I like the general sound of it, but it has a pretty weak melody. Hopefully the full production will improve the track and of course, not least, the lyrics.

I'm excited as hell about the new album, returning here more often than fully sane people would, hoping to find news about Fundamental.

The high synth riff that repeats throughout sounds really demo.

DiscoVery on PJ in his all too brief review was at pains to mention that the version of Psychological on the LP was loads better. If the production is more dynamic and the lyrics are good, I reckon we'll all be pleasantly surprised..

First reply to a post for me here!!!

I'm in agreement with people on here that the recent albums have been weak in comparison to earlier material.

Having grown up with albums like Actually, Introspective and Behaviour the later albums just didnt live up to the overall feel and production values of those. Even tho the actual songwriting is still as strong. Almost seemed to me like they were going backwards production wise, especially after working with the likes of Stephen Hague, Julian Mendelsohn, Trevor Horn and Harold Faltermeyer. I know artists have to move on and experiment etc (as on Release!!), but I for one am hoping they really have gone back to the more "classic" PSB sound on Fundamental. The fact that they have worked with Trevor Horn again is a great prospect and having heard Psychological it has got me quite excited about the sound of the new album. Its not an awesome epic track but as a promo it is working wonders - certainly getting everyone talking anyway!!!!

I can't wait for Fundamental now. The release date seems like an age away at the mo - especially as everyone seems to have been talking about it forever already

You can't please all people all the time, but I sincerley hope that Fundamental pleases all us hardcore PSB fans, and maybe bring about a great PSB revival!!!!

Maybe it's because recent-ish albums from PSB have been a little bit of a let down (IMHO) and now I'm getting used to it.

Played Bilingual back in the car yesterday, and I couldn't believe how much of it I couldn't listen to. Must have skipped 2/3rds of it...

Anyway, I am hoping for good things this time. Trevor Horn should help to make the album a bit more 'classic' PSB. Maybe I'll get more excited nearer the time.

OK, Bilingual was also for me the little played album but everything depends on what time you play an album. The most emotional album for me is "Behaviour" and I can't listen to it when I'm not sad. When I'm sad it's my medicine to cry and it relieve me.
Also with all the other albums. It's like drinking wine. Every PSB-album is a feeling and you must make the right choice to play it.
I don't have this with a new album because I'm very excited for listening the first time. After this periode I must make a choice already.
Very strange isn't it ?

its been like 4years since we have heard anything.

as long there are 9 out of 12 tunes i canlisten too who cares...

reveiws are reallygood everywhere which is cool and has made me more ecited i am more interested in the tour though and as for physcological...sounds very demo dont it!!! anyway we diehard fans shouldnot coment until we hear!!!!!

for me,as long as its taking to hear the new CD via the internet the more I am becoming sadly resigned to the idea I might just have to buy it the day that it gets released in stores just like all the other chumps.

I simply decided not to look for ir but to wait for it. As in the old times when internet didn't exist and you were listening to the radio when suddently Neil's voice appeared out of nowhere and you said "There' s PSB around!" In two or three days you went at the record shop and bought something beautiful.
This time maybe radio will not help that much (not in Italy) but it would be real fun to jump into "Minimal" on my way to work or back home...

They haven't released a decent album since Behaviour! Very was terrible and they've stayed crap since.

I can't understand to all the people who miss the old times when they heard on the radio the new psb single. Maybe the impressive moment of hearing the Neil Tennant's voice singing one new sound was amazing but.... I remember how long I had to be hearing horrible songs waiting for the new psb song.

I think now is much better, you can get the mp3 which is also an exciting moment.

yeah but the one thing I am going to try and avoid this time is listen to samples or clips of the new songs. I would prefer the CD all in one shot rather than the way I seemed to had gotten the release new songs,ie one track at a time.

So much time between the end of the work and the launching of the album, in my opinion. I know they have to talk with Emi-Parlophone about it, about tour and things like that. But I suppose they don't need so much time for that.
I imagine them worrying about the possibility of a leak of Fundamental on the net.
