Agree with Syncratic. The whole place is self destructing. It could be Mute behind the idea to close it. I'm not sure how much influence that admin guy has and how much the forum is part of his jib but he must have his head in his hands everytime Cal posts.

The 3 or 4 nutjobs that always obsess over the 'trolls' could be wanting it shut to start up their own forum. They are the ones coming up with the bizarre idea's of how it should move forward. Theres been a suggestion of paying. They can't get people to sign up for free. So who the hell is going to pay? Another suggestion is you have to give your personal info ;- name, d.o.b, address.

If you've done nothing wrong you've got nothing to fear.....

Just to let everyone know, I've banned Malvin from posting for the time being just so we can hopefully move on with this topic without deviation from the purpose of it.

Please can everyone keep on topic, I know it's easy to get lost in the little details of each post, particularly while people are feeling sensitive, but this is all about the big picture.

The Erasure forum has become an embarrassment. If Richard is under pressure from one poster to ban someone for f*** all he's already lost his authority and the respect of everyone. His position is untenable really. There's some really bright posters over there such as smiffy,and Malvin who want to move the debate forward but Richie Sommerville and his whackos are pulling it down every time they open their gobs. It's not the forums members fault that Erasure have performed poorly since 2000. If they got that disappointment out of their system then we'd have real debate and Erasure wouldn't get so many mixed messages. At this stage it pains me to say it but maybe the forum should close and Erasure should cut their losses and split up. What has either of them got to offer any more anyway?

I think it's also obvious that Vince is hellbent on associating himself with DM instead of Erasure these days. His remix of Behind The Wheel, the VCMG project which was Vince's idea, his recent tweet that he's producing a DM cover for some artist and all this getting chummy with the band just as they are recording a new album... -- it all shows that he's desperate to get himself back on the DM bandwagon.

Malvin was indeed extremely harshly dealt with by the guy with the humungous forehead. I think he's just jealous.

There's no one quite like Malvin. I like how he said he was the victim of identity theft. I should post that over there, and say it's dedicated to Richie Sommerville Luv Mal. But which alias should I sacrfice. (Sssh)

I know that some of you are in a state of high anticipation as you wait for a decision on the future of the EIS Forum after I mooted the idea of closing it at the start of May.

Well, I wanted you, the members of the forum, to be the first to know the decision that has been reached, and - with the input and approval of Andy, Vince and Erasure's management - I'm afraid this message it to let you know that I have decided that it is time to close the forum completely.

The closure won't take effect immediately as I realise the forums contain a lot of information, links etc that people might want to keep so it will remain open until June 15th to allow everyone the time to do that.

I did consider cutting the Forum from the EIS and letting it run unofficially under the responsibility of someone else, but that could only happen with the express permission of all current members that they would be happy for their information and posts to be used like that, and given the relatively small number of members who took the time to express an opinion about the proposed closure of the forum I think that obtaining that permission from every member would be impossible.

I really appreciate the input from everyone who has posted on the thread (and from those people who contacted me via PM, email and via the Erasure website) discussing the possible closure. It's been a very tough decision to make.

I will be announcing the news in an EIS newsletter later today, but like I said, I wanted you to be the first to hear it.

The news of it closing hasn't gone down to well. Personally, i blame Cal, Stephano, AFC10 mainly. They wouldn't allow any other opinion other than a positive one. More and more members were coming out and saying so. Apparently that Cal set upon a young lass on Facebook. Her photoshopping last year at Miami was embarrassing.

Shame it's shut down but it does make you think it could be the calm before the storm. Are Erasure calling it a day? That forum was the centre for everything, it seemed. Still, stephano has twitter to finally try to persuade Erasure to let him produce a video of them pulling petals off a Sunflower, instead of being overlooked by a YouTube competition.

I heard about that. She was saying 'please leave me alone' quite a few times. If she reported him to police for online harassment, she could have a case against the pest. I wouldn't be surprised if Erasure called it a day. Might be best all round. Mute couldn't have been happy with the really poor performance and I guess seeing as they are a minor catalogue band they might make a few quid flogging and reussuing their no. 1 albums.

Well only some of the GOOD refugees can come, undertaker, etc...

Undertaker knows who the good people are on that forum.
