Well if Erasure aspire for a top 5 album then they must have been disappointed for a long time now.

I belive that when Neil says that Release has sold 750.000 and Nightlife has sold 1.2 million, then it´s the truth, he has no reason to lie. I mean if we don`t belive what he says, then who can we belive?.

Erasure are a frustrating band in that they have sacrificed artistic integrity in favour of trying to sell records. I like most Erasure albums to a certain degree although especially loved the "Erasure" album which was a definite attempt on their part to experiment and break away from their trademark sound. In terms of commercial success this back fired completely and was a disappointment so on "Cowboy" they tried to return to the sound they were famous for. Since then they've been content to stagnate and while "Loveboat" and "Nighbird" are decent pop records they aren't any more than that. Erasure couldn't make a record like Battleship Potemkin for example or have the brains to make an album like "Fundamental". Don't get me wrong Erasure have made some great pop songs over the years and i've liked most their output, but deep down they lack the depth, diversity and sophistication that PSB have continually produced.

I met the singer in a Gay Club here in Rome almost 10 years ago. I can still remember how ridiculously he was acting. Of course nobody recognized him.

Well the only thing better than number 2 on the European charts is number 1...

Woah... I completely and utterly disagree with you on all of this, but I don't wish to derail a thread from its intended purpose further than it has been.

As for Union Street, think of it as Battleship Potemkin or one of the Disco releases promo-wise... except with less promotion, lol.
