I do think that this forum is extremely hetrosexual. People like Zeus and bigboy are bitchy but no more than the average queen and certainly no more than Neil and Chris themselves who are a couple of total bitches.

I'm certain that Neil would have been banned from here if he was a regular poster. Hi Neil!

when the main website had a question section, I thought neil came off as being anything but bitchy even when he had the right to.

You obviously didn't listen to the radio documentary a couple of years back...or read any of the Chris Heath books...

No, actually I wonder more what happened with the high quality, intelligent poster named Eldritch, who used to post quality reviews and good remarks, but who now apparently seems to be looking for sensation only, complaining about the fact that dVTB is no longer on the Zeus forum, which means that Zeus can't slag off his contributions with bitchy one-liners. Apparently that's what you await from a forum nowadays: sensation. Hence the remark above.

I only feel sorry for you. Whether or not Zeus is posting here or not, at least he found a couple of slaves who are willing to post stuff on this forum, on his request. I just wouldn't have expected it from you, Eldritch, that's all....

Then why do posters still add new comments to that topic so long after it was started? If you're so convinced about the popularity of your own forum, why do you need to refer to that 'unpopular' other forum 2-3 times a day?

I love this place but I have no illusions its the greatest forum. as every forum generally is the same makeup.

you have the nice people, the bitchy assholes, the die hard collectors, the people who seem to have connections and get rare stuff and the debate crews.its all there every forum.

I like this place most likely because its become comfortable and familiar.

I'm sure he can be. I for the life of me just cant picture neil getting banned from a forum.

One thing that is clear, is the fact that there seems to be quite a few members posting here under different aliases, since the other forum was spawned. I don't know who they are, nor do i care but this forum seems to be the one that nobody can bare to leave behind.

Eh? If you weren't so goddamn insecure, you might have been able to interpret my original comment the way it was meant to. I wrote it to express my genuine sorrow about the fact that you weren't around to defend Nervously and to have a go at Zeus for replying with a one-liner instead of offering genuine arguments. And if Zeus would have replied with exactly that, then so what? What does it take away from your defence of Nervously? You yourself often slag off Depeche Mode in the same fashion, but I fail to get nervous breakdowns about them.

Plus my life isn't exactly that dull that I would have to seek sensation from PSB forums.

Some people here are obsessed with Zeus, it seems, despite his long absence from this board. I don't consider the other forum to be "Zeus' forum". It's true he administrates it and it was founded as a reaction to his unfair banning from here, but he's just one of a bunch of people I personally find it interesting to discuss things with. It's not like everything centers around him or that he ever exercises his administrative rights to censor anything other than obvious trolling, so basically he's just another member.

I have limited time for PSB fora these days so I try to make best use of it - having your posts drown in a flood of Chris slobbering, repetitive speculations and "who can post most" games often just isn't worth it.

Unfair banning?! Oh get a grip. I'd rather be flooded by threads about Chris or who can post more, than having ego-inflated outbursts everytime someone decides to throw his toys out of the pram. We're well rid of drama queens who thrive on throwing hissy fits whenever ego pandering isn't forthcoming or whenever naysayers don't bow down to whatever trite comes out of their mouths.

The moderation team on this forum is one of the best things. Though I'd say they are too lenient at times. But at least, it shows they are bloody fair. I'd rather stay with a team with integrity, even if there is talk about Chris's bloody hair (or lack thereof), than all the ego pandering mentioned above.

So, for fear of being mortally offended by a member of an online forum who you don't know personally, you actually prefer a forum of repetitive mindless drivel about the sexiness of Chris Lowe and counting to 1000?

Fair enough - I guess we just have different preferences.

I have never liked personal attacks, having been through a few myself, but before banning a member for sometimes getting a bit unreasonable in discussions, the balance of that member's contribution to the forum needs to be considered, and I think it must be a general policy of a forum to make an effort to keep those posters who manage to be both active and interesting. There are certainly people here I would like to see banned (and who I think have deserved it far more than Zeus did), but I don't go asking the moderators to act on it, every time somebody annoys me.

Also, the history of this forum needs to be taken into consideration. It started out as a reaction to the ridiculous policies of the Sky forum and was founded by Rob as a reasonably impartial and not too intrusive judge. That is why the community as it were in those days agreed to move here rather than start up another forum.

Now, of course, he is gone and the people moderating are those who volunteered to assist him - having never been selected or approved by the community as such. At some point it just became clear that this forum had strayed too far from its original founding point which is why I liked the idea of a new forum with different moderation policies and fewer mindless posters.

All in all, everyone is free to post whereever they like - it's not like rival fractions. I just think people should at least be aware of the alternatives and also be allowed to have an opinion about how this forum is run. Could be much worse of course but why settle for second best?

I don't need to have a go at anyone, nor am I insecure. In fact I know very well what I do, what I want and what I don't want. Like everybody else, I make my mistakes; joining the Zeus forum being one of them. As soon as I realised that, I left. Big deal.

I had enough (of) discussions with Zeus. I'm not on a discussion forum to be ridiculized. I'm also not on a discussion forum with the goal to slag off other people. When I wrote that the latest DM album lacks quality and sounds like an attempt to set a new world record for most different distortion effects on one album, it's just my opinion about an album. Not some kind of personal attack, nor an attempt to ridiculize you or other DM lovers. Nor did I often write such comments about DM.

As for your 'genuine sorrow'...
It's a shame that dVTB has moved back into the other forum, since it would be nice to hear his passionate defence of this track. Only for it to be trashed by a curt one-liner from Zeus, of course.
If you had written something like '....followed by a curt one-liner from Zeus to trash it.' I might have believed you, but the words 'only for it...' are more than clear.

It's not really important though. You're now in the luxury position to choose, just like every other PSB fan: my contributions can only be found on this forum from now on, curt one-liners by Zeus can be found daily at http://petshopboys.proboards61.com

To Joemoz: when I call the other forum the 'Zeus Forum', it is to clarify which forum we're talking about. After all, he's the founder of it. Officially, the thing is called Pet Shop Boys Forum, which is a rather general name. This forum is a PSB Forum too, so is Lydia's forum... etc.

As for the Verbal thing, Eldritch: I don't care at all who's behind it, it could be anyone, but it's certainly NOT a forum newbie, but someone with a long PSB Forum history. All he did in his massive thirty-something posts is to ridiculize topics that were opened here. His first contribution to a topic about politics:
It amazes me that people still find it necessary to debate on here.
I mean seriously- what do you get out of a debate on here?
Is it really worth it?
Get over yourselves.........
That's clearly not a newbie comment. Undertaker said it well and I agree with him:

Actually a few people have, but as a PSB fan I think it would be silly not to follow this place, since this is where most of the news appear first and which has the largest following by far. There are also often interesting discussions here, among the vast quantities of drivel. Many of the posters on the other forum were here long before most of the current posters so we obviously feel a certain affinity to this place too.

Most importantly, however, why choose when you can have both?

I don't need to be told what I meant; I know that I intended the comment more like a satirical observation on "Zeus forum"'s debate atmosphere. I personally fail to see a radical difference between what I wrote and how you suggested I should have phrased it. I don't understand how by stating that Zeus would have followed your passionate defence by saying something like "Nervously is crap, obviously" (like he most likely would have) means that I would have somehow relished and wished for such a response. Nor I understand why you should take such a Zeus-ism as a personal insult any more than I take your comments in the style of "DM's Best Of has only 3 or 4 good songs on it". You can comb through the other forum all you like, but the one you quoted is the only thing I have said you about there in your absence. And it wasn't meant as a dig for you. But you're still welcome to feel sorry for me.
