Well, just vote off the track you like the least out of those on the list and you can't really go wrong. There's no prize or single release for the winner, its just an amusing diversion, nothing more, nothing less.

Given the way you presented your vote in this round, I think that's a very wise decision.

dVTB wrote:People who don't list Indefinite Leave To Remain in the Top 10 of best Fundamental-era tracks are indeed NO Pet Shop Boys fans in my eyes. Especially not when you call it "unplayable", while you happily sit through bloody God Willing.
So I'm not a Pet Shop Boys fan now because I happen to think ILTR isnt in my top 10 for Fundamental?

f*** me, Id better start burning my CDs and Vinyl.

For gods sake dvtb, I was clearly joking in response to your post when I said Indefinite Leave to Remain was unplayable. I really think you should read my first post on the first page.

It was actually supposed to be an ironic remark in that I did not want it to remain indefinitely.

I happen to like the track just not as much as the others.

Why not? Aren't these arguments the whole point of such contests?

You're not a Pet Shop Boys fan in my eyes.

BTW: for information purpose only, this is the result of the Geowayne survey amongst 293 voters in July 2006:

Integral 8.173
Fugitive 7.984
Minimal 7.945
The Sodom and Gomorrah Show 7.701
The Resurrectionist 7.436
Indefinite Leave to Remain 7.054
Luna Park 6.880
I Made My Excuses and Left 6.836
I'm with Stupid 6.832
Casanova in Hell 6.624
Twentieth Century 6.542
Numb 6.343
Girls Don't Cry 6.142
Psychological 5.962
God Willing 5.134

The bottom five are all gone in this weakest link competition, apart from Psychological. As you can see, ITLR is a satisfying #6 position in this list. So my opinion on this subject isn't really that strange.

Weakest Link warfare !

Apart from what i think wil lbe the remaining 3 or 4 songs, come the final 4 rounds, the rest of the songs voted off would probably be in a completely different order in 6 months time. I use to hate Numb but it sounds awesome on Cubism. The same with Dreaming of the Queen. The emotion on Cubism showed it in a completely different light. Anyway, enough of me droaning on.

Dvtb, Its not that your opinion is strange, its more the rather bizarre 'you're not a pet shop boys fan in my eyes' statement that is baffling. Its such an odd thing to say to someone on the basis they prefer one song over the other.

The poll proves little other than that Indefinite Leave to Remain is, by popular opinion, neither the best track on the album or the worst. I don't really care if Psychological fares better or worse, I prefer it and its as simple as that.

I happen to put DJ Culture in my top 5 tracks, which I know isn't a popular track, so there you go. I'm pretty sure there are PSB classics that you're not particularly enamoured with (I'd be interested to know which, just to see where you're coming from as a PSB fan or, more specifically, your top 10 PSB tracks).

I happen to think that that list isn't all that. First of all Casanova In Hell has a ridiculously poor rating, even though it's clearly the best track on the album. Second of all, the uptempo tracks are rated too highly, while the slower tracks were the best of Fundamental (Casanova, Luna Park and ILTR) - the only truly outstanding uptempo track was Fugitive, which ought to have been #1.

..or indeed tracks that Dvtb loves which aren't regarded very highly. I seem to recall that his favourite PSB track is "The Survivors", which isn't really rated THAT highly by fans in general.

BTW, this is the score thus far:

Psychological: 10 votes
Indefinite Leave To Remain: 9 votes
I'm With Stupid: 8 votes (Dvtb's vote NOT deducted, since there's no tie)
Bright Young Things: 6 votes (speaking of strange choices in this round)

The rest all have 3 votes or less.

I'd love to close this round soon, but I don't like closing a round that is THIS close. I'd prefer to have the "winner" in front by at least two votes. If someone thinks that I'm unwilling to close this because I don't want Psychological to lose, they're wrong. I think ILTR is about 100 times better than Psychological!

I'm gonna check this thread again before I go to bed. Hopefully, I'll be able to close it then.

Yes, I didn't notice that Casanova in Hell was so poorly rated, a song which I think is the best ballad on the album and a contender for best track overall.

Consider this though, the poll is from July 2006 and I think if we'd taken it now the results would be somewhat different. You have to factor in the immediacy of the faster tracks appeal over the ballads. Actually, it'd be a good poll to do again 1 year after the fact.
