But when he released a song whose main catch was in English it charted.
Here are the only two foreign language songs that I can think of that were reasonable sized hits in the UK in the 80s...
And here's a multinational smash that wasn't a hit in the UK even though it was in English...

I knew it was 1990 as well, Dave.
You could edit the post by putting a different URL in to replace that one if you wanted. But it would be a shame to do that, as it is just as cringeworthy as it was 19 years ago. Excellent!
Cheers for putting up "Hey Matthew" as well. I remember that from watching it on TOTP way back in '87, good lord.
