Wow, you seem to take Eurovision more seriously than I do. It's just harmless fun entertaiment once a year, not a way to measure which country is superior. I am not demaining anything about UK and all that; it is just a FACT... you can read it in the article. Up until 1998 UK had always found a place in top ten; thereafter it sure is a disaster. I just offered the idea that this ten year low-ranking has probably led BBC to give a more serious consideration to the contest.
And if it will make you more happier and merrier, I can safely say that Turkey had hit zero point once or twice (or even more than twice) in the past and this doesn't "upset" me in the least. If the national pride revolves around such a lousy contest, so let it be.
If Greek Cypriots stop giving 12 points to Greece, and vice versa, if Turkey stops giving 12 points to Azerbaijan or Bosnia Herzegovina and vice versa, if Scandinavian countries, the Baltic countries, the Balkan countries etc do the same, then the voting results may be more fair and the contest will at least have some merit.
