I was a general consumer of the TOP 40 hits, I liked a lot of isolated tracks from different artists, but if I have to think about some 'special' artists that caught my attention on that early years (for me), the first albums I ever bought and listened to death were from Falco, Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Kraftwerk...

Just general top 40 radio one stuff, psb was the first music I actually bought rather than taped of the radio.

Pet Shop Boys were pretty much my first musical love. I was 12 years old, when I heard "What Have I Done To Deserve This" in the late summer. I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever heard and instantly became a fan. However, I did love a few tracks before encountering What have I done to deserve this?, such as:

I remember just playing that song over and over the summer of 1986.

My favourite song of 1987 BEFORE encountering PSB:

Several years before all this I loved a song to death that my dad had on a tape. Unfortunately my brother and I accidentally taped it over. What a disaster. Today I have NO CLUE what that song was and I really wish I did. My dad has no clue either.

Early Kylie,
Sonia (terrible but good video's I remember!)
Level 42 (Pretty good, seeing them live next week for the first time!)
T'Pau
Beach Boys
MC Tunes (The only Ryhme that bites was one of my first singles I bought)
The Beatles (my get out of jail free card!)

I listen to Level Best (Their greatest hits of course) quite often and it is a brilliant album. They are one of my favourite bands and are pretty good in my opinion. Just like Erasure in November I am really happy to see them live in Guildford!

The first record I bought was by a swedish band Called Adolfsson&Falk, they were as far as I can remember the first musical act that I really liked.

Eurythmics.
Got Savage and Actually for X-mas '87. Crazy concept today that I waited for 2-3 months to get an album in those days. But I was only a child.

I was around 10 or 11 when they started, so mostly whatever my parents had (country, some disco stuff, ABBA), and whatever was on the radio or MuchMusic (like MTV in Canada). I remember being really into Michael Jackson & stuff from movie musicals- particularly the Sound of Music & Grease.

I am ashamed to say but I was a huge Modern Talking fan. Still the First Album and Jet Airliner single are fantastic ones. Other than that, I try not to think about those times :)

Apart from Modern Talking, I was not deeply rooted in any band or artist. Whatever the radio played or the then hit songs suited me fine. I loved Roxette, in particular, their first album and It Must Have Been Love were big favourites. I liked Madonna (True Blue was great) and Cyndi Lauper. I liked some early Aha and Wham. Big in Japan, Final Countdown and Self-control...whatever was in the charts. I remember I had been a little bit in love with Belinda Carlisle.

Eurythmics were my first obsession.

Before Behavior had me fall in love with PSB, I'm not sure who to say I was following the strongest. I liked Sinéad O'Connor a lot. Kate Bush. I played The Art of Noise a lot.

My first single was:

The Fixx / "Saved by zero"

Too bad they didn't really continue after 1990. Parts of the comeback album were good but they should've kept going. They had an interesting mix of commercial and experimental. The 1984 soundtrack is a great album.
