Have you had the opportunity to use the "I am rubber, you are glue" chant yet? It is fantastic. It truly jabs the person it is aimed at. They never see it coming. Look it up on the net. It contains step by step instructions on how to properly corner your opponent and use it to its fullest potential. It even has colorful diagrams, displaying a very sad and emotionally distraught stick figure, with a tale between its legs. It is truly vicious, so I recommend you use caution before using such an extreme method of verbal combat. Just for safety sake, perhaps if you do choose to use this; atop your post you should put the following, so others know to look away if they can not stomach what is to come: ***Warning, extreme adult subject matter follows. personally I think we are all just getting jittery and edgy about fundamental. we are all like a bunch of people who quit smoking and are just dying and needing to have one and someone asks a nice simple question and we spin around and scream WHAT?!!!!!!

(long sigh) Thank you for making up the rules and giving me barriers. Ya obviously seem very proud of your posts and responses. But I'm surprised you are still going on about whatever you're going on about. I mean coming from a 16 year old the tone and content of your posts could be dismissed as teen bravado but from a man in his late 20s, well, you have to wonder. I really mean that.

If you'd like I will continue to make allowances for you, such as the name game you are enjoying, the game play analogy's, and the general tone of your responses which, from the start, have displayed how desperate you are to try and have an argument for arguments sake. In the process you have spouted gibberish at every given opportunity.

Reading your posts is like watching a nervous breakdown in slow motion.

If you really insist on a further response to claw back some kind of kudos for yourself then you take your time to word something so mind-blowingly devastating that I will be too ashamed to respond. Go on, you have as long as you'd like. It can be as long and short as it needs to be.

You could use your emoticons that you take so seriously, you could make more reference to game play, you could continue to speculate on how I might respond, pointing out verbal tools which you yourself have continually repeated. Since you're fond of them and you've been looking them up, you may want to use diagrams, whichever models and theories you like.

You could even go to the last anal refuge and quote from earlier posts that back up your views, you could continue pretend to ignore my response to display your superiority, or you could do the 29 year old thing (unless your age miraculously changes overnight) and pm me instead of infesting this thread with your verbal dribble and we can sort whatever problems you have in private. Maybe you could continue with your futile predications to try and keep one step ahead. Honestly, you give justice to the term 'running to stand still'. See you have choices?

All I can see that has happened is this.

1.You don't like my construcitve post (albeit a hint of negativity)
2.You respond with an equally negative post, bordering on petty insults, thus instigating an argument that even you admittedly don't know what you're point is.
3. I responded in a tone that seems to agree with your sensibility

5.You rambled on...
6. I made one more post, invite you to take your twisted logic to my pm, and then get bored with winding you up.

It really would be interesting to live your life in one day.

There's probably some truth in that actually.

I have wanted to put the review of Ting Tong with the new order of the "Fundamental" tracklisting. The review is just the same but I like to read it with the actual order of the tracks (wich, according to all the previews, I think will be much better than the original. If "Integral" is as good song as Ting Tong says, it will be a great ending for the album).

The Pet Shop Boys are back with verve and vigour! Anyone who worried that their last album ‘Release’ was a weird self imposed death sentence need wonder no more.

The Boys next album, due in April/May is titled ‘Fundamental’ and aims to please every PSB enthusiast in the land. Are there big disco numbers? Yes. Are there moving ballads? Yes. Are there classic mid tempo PSB classics? Certainly! Have they lost the guitar? Err no. But worry not, its used to great effect.

PSYCHOLOGICAL: Repetitive notes and beat, ‘Psychological’ reminds me instantly of Kraftwerk. Only not as good. ‘There is something in the air can it smell so bad? An undertaker in a bowler hat’ Very surreal and an oddity in the context of this album.


THE SODOM AND GOMORRAH SHOW: Strange sound effects and heart beats and laughter……and then the announcement on a drum beat…sun, sex, sin, divine intervention, death and destruction………welcome to the Sodom and Gomorrah show…….then its mad quiz show music and straight into up-tempo beat – oh and the guitars are back too. This time though, the Boys seem to know how to use guitars with electro pop. It works! Should I burn my copy of Release in the fire and wrath of Sodom and Gomorrah?! Nearly five and half minutes later, I have a big smile on my face and Release is long forgotten.


I MADE MY EXCUSES AND LEFT: Sound effects. A door slamming. Bells ringing. ‘I Made My Excuses and Left’ A full 1.50 seconds of instrumental before Neil begins a classic PSB plot filled song. ‘a silence filled the room, awkward as an elephant……..’ Lots of violin and oboe all add to the melancholy. (this is an album for everyone)


MINIMAL or is that M.I.N.M.A.L? The Boys are teaching the nation to spell again, a la ‘S H O P P I N G’. This time it’s a computerised voice spelling out the lletters for us with mid tempo rhythm and bass taking us through. ‘An empty box, an open space, a single thought leaves a trace’…………………. ‘Time and Space’. At 3.28 in comes the ‘New Order’ style guitar and great strings…..building fabulously into an over the top finale which finishes far too early.


NUMB – a real grower. On first couple of listens it has little effect. The third time you hear it, pulls you in. It’s a stunningly beautiful ballad. ‘I don’t want to feel this pain no more’


GOD WILLING: 1.30 seconds of electronic noise, guitars and flourishes. Is this a Trevor Horn album? It certainly is. Can’t you tell?! Oh and there is Neil wailing in the background. Is he being reborn? Rising like a Phoenix from the ashes of Release maybe? We can keep our fingers crossed.


LUNA PARK: More sumptuous effects and electronics as we visit ‘Luna Park’. ‘The big wheel in the sky will make you scream’ ‘Come and join the line, the ghost train leaves on time’. ‘In Luna Park, it can’t be dark too soon’. 5 minutes 29 seconds of glorious and sumptuous electronic ballad… Is it simply a song about a visit to a fun fair? ‘When we are getting high we’re happy’. Or perhaps a reference to drugs? If you enjoy the chilled out vibes of AIR, you’ll love this.


I'M WITH STUPID: A slight change of pace, more a medium paced PSB track ‘Oh oh I’m With Stupid’, ‘Oh Oh, I’m with Stupid’. You get the idea. ‘It’s not about sincerity, everybody knows…..’


About the next three tracks. On first hearing, I wasn’t, it has to be said very impressed. But strangely, after hearing them a dozen times, they grow on you:

CASANOVA IN HELL with its tale of a naked boy and a naked girl builds into quite an impressive orchestral section with Neil’s high pitched vocals about a lad and his hell not getting an erection.

TWENTIETH CENTURY too was not easy to get into. But again it clicks into place after a few listens, and you find yourself tapping your toes to the electronic bass and sensual chords.

INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN: Ill be honest here. When I heard the opening brass band effect, my jaw dropped. Have they lost the plot? Brass band sounds?? Then guitars? Are they teasing us? A few dodgy rhymes too – superficial with official grate a bit, but again, after a few listens, it becomes a rather charming song. And yes Neil, we do give you and Chris ‘indefinite leave to remain’ if you keep producing albums of this quality.


INTEGRAL: Time to forget the melancholy and put on your uniform. It’s time to chant to a disco beat! Che Guevara and Debussy would be proud. Neil gets political. Is he still regretting his pro-war stance? A swipe at New Labour perhaps? You can even hear Neil signing through gritted teeth. Or maybe it’s just a great disco dance. Filled with racing strings, big electric guitar chords and orchestra. ‘Sterile, immaculate, rational, perfect’


Fundamental is a return to form for PSB. There are six outstanding tracks. Four good tracks and a couple I’ll leave off my ipod for the time being.
