Great song, great lyric. It gets me right in the gut, especially the "Clean, and prepared to be led" line. Neil does an unbelievable job of bringing out the absolute futility of the actions that the singer is about to take part in, without resorting to cliche or judgemental preaching. I don't believe that any other lyricist (or vocalist, for that matter) could have carried it off in the way that he does.
I think if PSB were "brave" enough to put this onto Fundamentalism, they should have placed it onto Fundamental itself; I can imagine a fantastic end to the album that goes Fugiitve-ILTR-Integral; almost three different sides of the same scenario and the governmental reaction to it.
Love comes quickly, but is a catastrophe and a bourgeois construct etc.
It's controversial, but it also makes people think. It's also the best produced PSB-track ever, sounding very fresh. It has HIT written all over it. Therefore I think it should be a single.

that hadn't occured to me, actually. however, i think the plane sound effects at the start and end of the song leave it open to another interpretation. which is the point isn't it; until neil confirms either way, we'll never know, and can speculate with varying degrees of accuracy.
but nonetheless, its a classic psb track, the sort of thing only they could pull off, and would've worked well as the penultimate track on fundamental - with integral last - which would've been very political.
I don't have a problem with that though.
