instead of just a DVD single, I'm wondering why EMI aren't doing DualDisc singles like all the Michael Jackson reissues - a DVD side and a CD side, and still chart eligible as well.

No way!!
Dual Disc = 1 sale
CDM + DVDS = 2 sales
It´s not all about this?...

Why put new tracks on a dvd? You want to play them on a stereo, i.e with good sound quality, and not on a f****g Tv, I'm really cross with them.
However,the 7" could be good, if the extended is a re-mix of In Private. Elton sounds great on it, as people have said, its the trance backing which is a bit cheesy (though a slight guilty pleasure of mine)

Are you allowed to have 3 CD singles (like Drunk in 2000?) Why not that...???

CD single = 1 sale

Just looked up the 'Minimal' remixers. M Factor they are one-time underground garage producers Nu Birth, probably more familiar in their pop guise, 187 lockdown. Anyone know who Telex Hell are?

ahh..I see your point now...you mean divide the stuff on the DVD into a dual-disc, so it can be played on normal CD players...It´s a good option, but I think Dual-disc are maybe more expensive to produce than a standard DVD...and a much more fragile format...

I think a lot of fans would prefer DualDisc rather than having to play audio tracks through the TV. I think they might catch on more than DVD singles, and I'm sure EMI have released them for Robbie Williams etc

As long as one is a 2-track I think this is fine.

No, you can only release two chart-eligible CD singles: 1 CD-single (2 tracks, maximum of 10 minutes) and 1 CD-maxi (either up to 40 minutes of remixes of one track or three different songs with a maximum duration of 20 minutes)

That's an interesting question. The current rules were created at the end of 2003, so DualDisc isn't mentioned in them. Here are the rules taken from a www.theofficialcharts.com:

What are the rules for singles?

Besides other things like packaging and minimum dealer price, the rules sets a limit of how long a single has to be in maximum to be considered for the single charts.
This means:

– 2004 -
* Two new formats have been introduced:
– The two-track CD single:
* Two audio tracks only
* No more than 10 minutes in total
* Standardised singles jewel case packaging, no free gifts or extras, lower minimum dealer price
– The "Maxi" CD/DVD:
* Current maximum of three tracks will in addition be able to feature remixes of those tracks so long as they remain within the currently-acknowledged time limit of 20 minutes
* Singles which solely feature a lead track plus multiple remixes of the same track will be able to run for up to 40 minutes
* The current limit of one video will increase to two
* Singles will, for the first time, be able to feature weblinks with an extension of the rule which currently allows them on albums
– Labels wishing to release a single that complies with the new rules should be aware that sales of a maximum of one 2 Track CD, one "Maxi" CD and one "Maxi" DVD may be combined per release for Chart purposes.
