I'm very much against judging people on their sexual orientation. It's not relevant for me what the sexual orientation of my favourite artist is. I like them for the music, not for their sex life.
dVTB, you're making my teeth itch

Didn't you say earlier that you knew what homophobia meant?

Being homophobic, hetrophobic or aracnaphobic, doesn't mean you hate anyone or anything, it ONLY means you dislike homosexuality, hetrosexuality or spiders.

What is wrong with that? Do we all HAVE to like spiders??? Calm down girls, dont worry

I'll say it again,

Mark Simpson, a GAY journalist who coined the phrase "metrosexual", says the same thing.
I condemn heterophobia, but it's hardly existing.
Why should a gay man be forced to like hetrosexuality?
Heterosexuality is still seen as the standard, anything else is considered 'deviant' by especially conservative and religious people.
Im with you on the religious thing, i hate those, sorry, DISLIKE  those religious people who say "god didn't make you to have same sex", what ignorant idiots.

If i was ignorant against or hated homosexuals or homosexuality, would i defend them.

I dont want to attack anyone, i want to tell the truth, i want fair play, equal rights.

Nice to see after all this time you still haven't worked out what 'phobia' means.

Jesus, this is probably the worst thread in the history of this forum.

After reading it through, all I am going to say is that I'm not going to stand by idly and have the piss taken.

No offense man, but you HAVE been standing by idly while the forum's been overtaken by malicious rants. It totally degrades the place , and makes me wonder WTF I'm doing in such a dive. Sorry.

There's only so much troll bullshit a forum can take before it collapses for good.

I like it in a way. its a vibrant, active and rowdy kind of forum. steve tends to let things go to a certain point and then closes the threads.no big deal.

I dont know why people read threads like this as though its some kind of crime.
this forum is no different from your adverage workplace. you have different personalitys and this is the result.

I think the ones complaning to steve are the ones with the problem.its this seemingly willingness to revert to manchilds who need rescuing by a father figure that is the most annoying.

whatever steve does is what he does.enjoy it or stop posting before he does, just stop being little girls about it cripes sake most are in their 30's here.

Thats against the rules here

When you've lost the argument (those against me), the next best thing to do is email your buddies and group a counter attack.
I think the ones complaning to steve are the ones with the problem.
Steve feels abliged to stick with his buddies.

He said worst thread ever, but its still going when loads have fallen. If he really believes that, then why hasn't he banned gregf for the insults???

You're wrong.
Homophobia (from Greek ὁμο homo(sexual), "same, equal" + φοβία (phobia), "fear") is a non-clinical term used to describe the fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals. It can also mean hatred, hostility, disapproval of, or prejudice towards homosexuals, or homosexual behavior or cultures.

Good for him. He's not a member of this forum, nor the owner. The relevance of this (repeated) comment is exactly zero.
pet shop boy wrote:Why should a gay man be forced to like hetrosexuality?
I'm not saying he is, or should. So I will not supply an answer to this irrelevant question.

Start a political party or pressure group. Launch a campaign, get people to vote for your ideas. Stop creating a non-existing problem on this forum.

This is indeed a vibrant and active forum. As for letting things go, you could argue whether the current moderation policy is a good one. I partly agree with Deschanel's comments and it's a public secret by now that I'm in favour of a bigger moderation team. Rather than closing entire topics, I would prefer to see malicious posts or fragments of posts deleted.
glennjridge wrote:this forum is no different from your adverage workplace. you have different personalitys and this is the result.
LOL, well it is VERY different from my workplace. At my workplace, we don't have psychopats wandering around and also no fired colleagues who return in disguise...

I don't necessarily agree with that. I certainly don't question Steve's integrity and devotion, but a moderation policy should be subject of constant review and evaluation. I'm really not suggesting we should discuss it daily, but it wouldn't be a wrong thing to review it every now and then. Circumstances DO change and moderation should be accurate.

Sorry pet shop boy but being aracnaphobic does not mean you dislike spiders, more like you have a FEAR of spiders. Take my mum for example, she has a fear of spiders and if she sees one she will get me to remove it but will tell me at the same time not to kill it or harm it. She does not dislike them for the sake of it, something that is more on the lines of Homophobia etc. Sorry but to me you more or less CHOOSE to be Homophobic. Nobody could convince me that it is a natural instinct to dislike something or somebody for the sake of it, or just because they are different from them. Going by the logic of pet shop boy as a manchester united fan I have a phobia against every other team! Ridiculous.
Anyway, talking to him is more like talking to a brick wall most of the time.

 wikipedia isnt a dictionary of the English language, deary me. No wonder you havn't understood me. And now you're saying Mark Simpson and other gay people are wrong too
The relevance of this (repeated) comment is exactly zero.
So you're telling us that you're creating your own dictionary definitions for this website via wikipedia?
Rather than closing entire topics, I would prefer to see malicious posts or fragments of posts deleted.
I agree with that too.

Who's the "psychopats" wondering around this forum?

Is this an insulting remark by you? Have you broke the rules?

Lets assume this is true, why would it be wrong of a human being to have a fear of a spider? Do you fear teranchilas (how the blinking hell do you spell that)
Take my mum for example, she has a fear of spiders
She does not dislike them for the sake of it
So she likes them, but fears them?
Sorry but to me you more or less CHOOSE to be Homophobic.
Absolutely agree, were either hetrosexual, bi-sexual, homosexual, lesbian or non sexual, either way hetrosexuals and gay's have a sexual phobia.
Nobody could convince me that it is a natural instinct to dislike something or somebody for the sake of it, or just because they are different from them.
Do you dislike sex with a woman or sex with a man? (i dont know your sex or sexuality).
Going by the logic of pet shop boy as a manchester united fan I have a phobia against every other team! Ridiculous.
Did you dislike MCFC when they beat you 1-0?

Jesus life must be very, very difficult for you. How do you sleep at night?
You complicate everything!
Have a look at these links although they probably are not official enough for you. Nothing ever could be I don't think:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/homophobia
http://www.reference.com/search?q=homophobia
Here is something on Arachnophobia:
http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Arachnophobia
Trying to be simple(!!!!) you could say that a phobia is generally used to explain a hatred against a person/objects human rights, but then again that misses the point in a number of ways.
Anyway, I give up, but one final thing, I HATED MUFC the day they lost 1-0 to MCFC!

People wrongly assume that.

By the way PSB - the definition of Bigotry I posted was not MY version, it was from the OED.
