Utter nonsense! Predictions based on Article 50 being triggered straight away! And with the ridiculous excuse the delay has made this better!!! When will you people give up and admit you are talking rubbish? Come back here in 10 years and we will see how things have got (If Britain still exists then of course and if we still have running water and electricity!!)Spittingcat wrote: Fri 24 Mar 2017, 4:22 pm The "predictions" were based on immediate trigger of A50, so the good news is that the delay has allowed the BofE to mitigate some of the immediate issues (good job they have a genius in charge there).
Now, the bad news, the "predictions" were based on a trade deal between the rEU & UK delivering near tarif free trade in goods, and passporting agreements for the city being in place. Now, the additional damage expected, and ruled out, of us falling back on WTO rates, is… well… huge. And the current government is saying that is exactly what we need to prepare ourselves for.
Not only are we not out of the water yet, but it's looking like we might be going in far deeper than the Remain campaign predicted at the time.
Consumer confidence remains high, very high, but that's because at least half the country believes the promises of us being 'better off' as we leave the EU. Reality will bite hard in a few years time I'm afraid, when we stop talking about the outlook, and start paying through the nose to try and maintain our current standard of living.
This is simply not true. The predictions were based on the impact of the vote, and no-one envisaged that Article 50 would be triggered immediately, since that was never going to be the case.Spittingcat wrote: Fri 24 Mar 2017, 4:22 pm The "predictions" were based on immediate trigger of A50, so the good news is that the delay has allowed the BofE to mitigate some of the immediate issues (good job they have a genius in charge there).

@jamie1978 - I would respectfully suggest that the above section of your post is misleading at best. I don't want to get into an economic argument about the UK (especially as I am not British) but around 50% of the international trade in services (excluding travel, transport and banking), exports by UK in 2015 was to Europe.jamie1978 wrote: Sat 25 Mar 2017, 10:11 amand given that direct export trade with the EU accounts for less than 5% of our economy
It's amazing how angry the leave camp is, despite winning. Doesn't feel like a victory...
Still can't decide if you are being deliberately provocative as your language is distasteful and your understanding of a democracy is false.JSDOUVRES wrote: Sat 25 Mar 2017, 3:13 pm Well the anti-democrats are out in full force today as promised to march against Brexit despite the fact that the police are stretched to their limits already with what went on during the week.
Apparently a bloke called Tim Farron is speaking whom I gather is a politician of a party that came 4th is the last general elections so not really much to shout about now is it and if that's the best they can do then good luck to them!!!
Saw a mock up poster of Farage as Hitler which was quite well done actually so some good artists amongst the people there, shame they don't see the huge irony in exactly what they are doing though especially in regards to people like Hitler but then again calling somebody a nazi that doesn't share your views is pretty darn easy now isn't it and when it comes to these people is pretty much "cliché"!!
I still think that this march should be towards the channel tunnel and everybody should have their belongings with them on their way to a new life in what they obviously see as "the promised land". I'm sure they would do well in their new lives in Poland or Romania and that the youngsters would find jobs easy to come by in Spain, Italy or Greece........
I do laugh at these utter idiots out today and find it incredible that people say this is what democracy is about when it is the exact opposite. I myself will never ever accept a democratic vote that doesn't go my way again although with their being no relevant opposition to the conservatives whatsoever I don't have much to worry about of course.
My understanding of a democracy is that people accept and support the result of a democratically held referendum, not take to the streets in order to try and overturn the result of one when the result doesn't go their way. What is your understanding of democracy? The right to refuse to accept democracy in the first place? If anybody is being distasteful then it is those that demonstrate against democracy itself, not the other way round.Neilatrone wrote: Sat 25 Mar 2017, 7:47 pmStill can't decide if you are being deliberately provocative as your language is distasteful and your understanding of a democracy is false.JSDOUVRES wrote: Sat 25 Mar 2017, 3:13 pm Well the anti-democrats are out in full force today as promised to march against Brexit despite the fact that the police are stretched to their limits already with what went on during the week.
