Re: Neil Tennant announces new book
Absolutely - after initially regretting shelling out for the limited edition, I’m actually pretty chuffed now. Great collectors piece and nice to have.
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning.
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

This is making me think now lol... Oh, well, cheaper version for me.b2311e wrote: Sat 28 Jul 2018, 11:28 am The Amazon listing states...Which suggests it's more than just the lyrics themselvesOver a career that spans four decades and thirteen studio albums with Pet Shop Boys, Neil Tennant has consistently proved himself to be one of the most elegant and stylish of contemporary lyricists. Arranged alphabetically, One Hundred Lyrics and a Poem presents an overview of his considerable achievement as a chronicler of modern life: the romance, the break-ups, the aspirations, the changing attitudes, the history, the politics, the pain.
The landscape of Tennant's lyrics is recognisably British in character - restrained and preoccupied with the mundane, occasionally satirical, yet also yearning for escape and theatrical release. Often surprisingly revealing, this volume is contextualised by a personal commentary on each lyric and an introduction by the author which gives a fascinating insight into the process and genesis of writing.
Flamboyant, understated, celebratory and elegiac, Neil Tennant's lyrics are a document of our times.

But it'll be a beautifully Mark Farrow designed flyer.y3potential wrote: Fri 27 Jul 2018, 9:15 amFlaffer wrote: Fri 27 Jul 2018, 8:09 am I’m saving my money for Chris Lowes pamphlet. Hopefully due next year (there’s a lot to edit down)
Doubt it would even be a pamphlet. A flyer at best. Your comment did make me chuckle though..

Imagine it on audiobook! On iTunes between Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence" and John Cage's 4′33″.Gabby wrote: Sat 28 Jul 2018, 12:41 pmBut it'll be a beautifully Mark Farrow designed flyer.y3potential wrote: Fri 27 Jul 2018, 9:15 amFlaffer wrote: Fri 27 Jul 2018, 8:09 am I’m saving my money for Chris Lowes pamphlet. Not always - the edition itself is made differently (hand stitched etc) to he help justify the higher price.Marie loves PSB wrote: Thu 26 Jul 2018, 11:34 amI agree!tottenhammattspurs wrote: Thu 26 Jul 2018, 11:00 am £14.99 on Amazon. Yes.
£75 for a signed copy? No. Total pi55 take that price. When you order signed limited edition books "elsewhere" they are the same price as what the rest are. You could buy another concert ticket at that price. I will be passing at the signed limited edition one.

It’s certainly a departure from Neil’s previous book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Core-Logic-Nei ... 0198777892

This one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dairy-Book-Hom ... 839&sr=1-1 really was (edited) by him.
I own that wonderful copy where he has inscribed the inside cover with "The worst job I ever had". My most prized PSB item as it's totally unique

I’m a little surprised this isn’t been issued as a Pet Shop Boys product.
One Hundred Lyrics and a Poem as a title is a little clunky. Could it even be argued that grammatically it should be One Hundred Sets Of Lyrics and a Poem? Or, if you don’t differentiate between song and poetry lyrics, just 101 Sets Of Lyrics
Pet Shop Boys, Lyrically might have been more straightforward.

Re: Neil Tennant announces new book
Given the poem must be exclusive to this book I guess it follows that some of the 100 song lyrics may be unreleased too.

Re: Neil Tennant announces new book
I am looking forward to this.
I hope the selection is a little daring as PSB's biggest hits are not necessarily their most interesting.
I'd rather read the lyrics (and commentary) of Jack The Lad or DJ Culture that those of Heart or It's A Sin, for example.
