Are Erasure fans jealous of PSB? I have come across quite a few stinging Electric reviews on UK which did not have any merit in content but just viral attack against the Boys because music press liked them better than Erasure bla bla bla...

For an eerie album the cover art works on, what no levels. I think the gothic tone works well but whose idea was the artwork. Oh...

An absolutely shocking album cover. It looks so cheap and tacky. This ranks up there with that film clip of Andy sitting on the bog.

Compare this with the cover of Electric and I bet you're really glad to be a Pet Shop Boys fan right about now!

Something clean... a pure white background with a photo of an actual snow globe containing Andy and Vince figurines, with "erasure" written either on a nameplate at the front of the snowglobe, or written above in a clean red font, would have been much better.

At least it wouldn't have been as abominable as this yellow snowman.

It's be OK on an EP I think, like God Rest Ye Gentleman, with other original songs. The problem for me is why when they are capable of doing something more modern with Frankmusik (even only 20 minutes of it) and Vince Clarke can obviously do something a bit more with it, why do Erasure have to be a parody of Erasure, and have since Cowboy?

I'm interested in hearing it as I think they can do that gothic thing we've heard with So The Story Goes, Ghost and Brother and Sister.

As for the cover art, well it's the first contact you have with the fans before the single and Andy's heels and leggings. The cover art has to set out its stall and say something and give a certain kind of aesthetic. This one says 'it's a bit of a laugh'. I'd love to see how Tiska and Stephano defend this one. They'll probably discount it as a 'side project'. Remember that? If it sells two hundred copies it's a side project, a few thousand it's not a side project. The show at Miami had to be a metaphor for Erasure fans since the 90s. No-one deserves this.

btw, I really like Erasure.

I'm looking forward to it, Crackers International was obviously a pretty good Christmas EP back in 89 and now they have decided to release this album. Well, the cover art is no Farrow but it's only the cover art (we think anyway) as long as the music is decent I don't care really.
And of course this will not sell well, but Erasure will never sell well again and like I've said before they rely on touring which they do OK at I would say even if they are smaller venues.

People still seem obsessed with sales and chart positions when it comes to Erasure, and I just don't get why, those days have gone but they were there once at least and touring is their way to survive.

I'm looking forward to hearing it still. It's either going to surprise us all or be an abomination. The first problem is that it's a Christmas album. However good it might be, you can really only play two weeks a year. Gaudete is also one of the most gut wrenching songs ever. Whoever wrote that must have been on mind boggling drugs. It's horrific. Although it's only fair to wait and hear it first.

That's probably because you celebrate Christmas properly. Over here, everyone is getting more and more fed up with it because it's rammed down your throat everytime you go into a supermarket August time.
