Most of the flaming comes from trolls off the Erasure forum does it, Bollocks.
Fine poeple believe Erasure have gone downhill, does that merit the wind up and abusive comments? You claim it is the people responding to this! What an even bigger load of bollocks! How about letting people get on with a discussion about a band without the same people constantly going over and over about how crap the think they are!
The problem is not that people do not like erasure or who think that they have gone downhill lately, but about the way people say things and the abuse they give people who do like their music. Steve lets most things go which I do not agree with but that is his choice and I accept that but that does not mean it is right.
And as for giving a worthwhile reply to some of the things that have been said, seriously are you taking the piss?

what I didnt like was that comment chris apparently made about erasure slumming it musically or something to that effect.

that just invited rivalry problems.

All that did was to turn certain people into robots ie if Chris doesn't like them neither will I.

yeah exactly. I was kinda surprised when I read that quote. it seemed unnecessary to go on record with that even if he felt that way.

Thats a load of crap. If Chris did say that, i doubt anyone would be swayed by it. People on here can think for themselves.

JSDouvres, no, i aint taking the piss. I think the new material is rushed, of poor standard and the same repetitive sound. The production is lazy at best. They don't take any time and care anymore. They can't even be arsed to make a video ffs!! A video is one of the things that a fan looks forward to the most. Now nobody has bothered to tell me why they think i'm wrong, all they have done is throw constant personal insults.

Ok Undertaker I have no problem with the fact you do not like the new stuff or find it rushed, personally I really like the new album and enjoy the highly electronic production. As for no music video, well that is not that important IMO, fine fans look forward to it but it's purpose is to be played on tv which is rarely done now for Erasure and also the PSB. They did in fact make a cheaply made video which was in fact made for the fans as oppose to the media so I think you are wrong there. I agree it was nothing special but not terrible at the same time.

Erashur are sh1t and i'm quite happy to keep sayin it and pay no heed to anybody who argues against this on a psb forum. Chris is correct to say how poor erashur are. Think most of the animosity for erashur stems from andy and sommervillewank.

Not that, that hides the fact that erashurs music is abysmal.

jsdouvres, i dont give a rats ass what u think, ur music taste is guff if u think erashur are anywhere near as good as psb.
That's it, it's all over. We're out of here. What a Legacy! (c) Chris Lowe 2009

I always thought the mispelling of erasure was ironic, clearly, after reading that and your sig, I was wrong.

But hey, you're entitled to dislike/like anybody you choose, but as a common courtesy to others is it too much to ask to just stay out of the topic and leave it to the fans of the band. Or, if not, follow JSP's example and post something that, at the very least, is funny.

Well we are all different skyhigh but just because you don't like something does not make it guff or whatever you you said.
Try to accept we don't all like the same things, for example you like Barenaked Ladies but I don't at all, however I would not start coming out with all this stuff about how abysmal I think they are or saying your music taste is guff if you think they are anywhere as good as psb.
You claim to be 31 from what it says on your aviator but what you write seems to come from an 11 year old, but then again that is insulting to most 11 year old's.
You don't like them, fine but just get lost and let people that do like them talk about them without these constant hate posts. Didn't we make an Erasure haters thread just to make you poor little thing happy?

these two bands have the closest thing to a sibling rivalry I've seen.

Actually, before I came to this forum it had never occurred to me to compare PSB with Erasure. Sure, they both make electronic music and yes, they're all gay. So what? Do PSB consider Erasure as rivals? Do they consider anyone as rivals? When Chris says that Erasure are "down the dumper" I interpret that as one of so many other comments N&C make on other performers. That's what they enjoy: commenting on the state of Pop.
So if there is any rivalry, I think it is only between a handful of fans from either band.

No, you clearly think they are shit without offering any constructive criticism, without any examples, poor execution in your style, clearly displaying your basic skills. That's not a problem in itself but your arguments are rather lazy, irrelevant and ignorant. And I'm sure you're not the only one. Ironically, I have found this type of basic response true of the Erasure forum as well.

Although I don't enjoy everything they do, I do acknowledge that they are certainley relevant in pop history and have made some fantastic singles.

The problem with the Erasure forum is that any slight disagreement, no matter how constructive, with any of the choices, decisions and songs Erasure have gone with, it's automatically dismissed by the members as 'negative', as if being 'positive' and 'non-constructive' is the only acceptable form of debate. Often some of Erasure's most cringeworthy moments are praised as fine examples of cutting edge lyricism, or pop.

I think most of this negative feeling towards PSB fans or Erasure fans who have questioned Erasure's recent material, stems partly from the view that *some* of the Erasure forum members really do lack social, debating, educational skills, and so we get a lot of insecurity, which makes itself as hostility. And before anyone wants to jump down my throat at this opinion, this culture isn't restricted to Erasure forums but individuals all kinds of forums on all kinds of topics and themes.

I personally would, although I feel it's gone beyond that now, wish Erasure to work with a cutting edge producer, collaborate on all aspects of the songwriting and production, take a more mature and less tacky approach to image, give some of the back catalogue a contemporay makeover for the tours and really get in touch with that whole Indie ethos they ahd in the late 80s when the NME was a better mag, and Erasure were taken seriously in the music press on a par with Depeche Mode to some degree. I feel that Andy's lyrics are really poor. Maybe I outgrew the lyrics 17 years ago, I don't know.
