I'm glad that Bobby 'O' didn't manage to scam some more cash out of this being Guardian's best #1 of all time. From what I remember, one of the mixes was indeed emulating the latter album version more closely than it probably should've with the sax solo. I also hope this will make them consider buying him out of his rights for their earliest recordings once and for all, at least for my selfish reasons of them being included in some future career retrospective.

Bobby O asked them a few years back, if they would buy the rights to the few songs he owns. Neil said that he wanted to much money for them.

I’ve always hated that old material and I imagine most potential buyers do as well. I don’t think buying the rights would be good investment. The Hague version is far far superior.

The link in the first post of this thread still takes you to the page where you can order it (well, as we all now know, it won't come out) and listen to four snippets of the remixes. Of the four, only the Ben Liebrand Four Course remix has made it out.

Three of these new remixes of West End Girls are avaible on the digital compilation 80s Synth Pop New Wave - DJ Edit Pack, released November 18, 2024.

The sweet tea mix is the Ben Liebrand 9 course suite remix
The NuDisco mix is listed elsewhere as the Ben Liebrand nu disco bass remix
the one listed simply as Extended mix (run time 6:15) is the Michael Gray Sultra Remix
