I was really surprised the short version of 'Way Through The Woods' wasn't on 'Elysium' Further Listening. Was an obvious one to add on there, as it met all their criteria.
The thrill of the chase, and the thrill of finding something special by chance. Those days are definitely gone. It's a double edged sword - it's nice to be an owner of exclusive tracks but at the same time it's a bit selfish to not want to share that with a new generation of Petheads - ones who will never understand the excitement of finding the 3x12" of Relentless in a London record store by pure accident, or spying an interesting sleeve art from afar only to discover it's the remix 12" of Domino Dancing. The thrill of the chase hasn't been possible for at least 15 years, thanks to YouTube, etc. I can imagine a treasure-hunter being far more annoyed in 1991 when both BSNYG and Miserablism became the sole b-sides of their respective singles; on the other hand at least you'd have the "non-existent" 9 minute version of This must be the place I waited years to leave and a lovely velvet box. Ooh but that velvet box is lovely....and soooo very velvety! I remember seeing the Domino Dancing remix cover from across a random record shop in Birmingham when I was visiting a friend. I immediately knew what it was despite not having seen the design previously. Nowadays you get a phone notification, open up Apple Music and it's there - all within 10 seconds and not having to leave your desk. Sad times (or just different times?)
