Nah, I have plenty of PSB releases that I don't like in my collection for completion purposes and the CD looks cute on display.

There should be tons of them on ebay soon anyway.

I actually think the soundtrack works without the celluloid images. As much as I enjoyed the ’Potemkin’ event in Trafalgar Square, I always felt uncomfortable with dated footage against modern sound. The tracks on there own work really well as a piece of continuous music, arguably better than Neil’s Back To Mine selection. I would imagine fans of classical music will enjoy the Dresdner Sinfoniker’s contribution, and that mixed with the programming really does provide some epic moments. ’Comrades!’ has some marvellous strings, and I really like the latter part of the CD (‘Night falls’ & ’Full steam ahead’ etc), which I think somebody has already mentioned here.

Well, I've not seen the film/new O.S.T but I'm a huge fan of the redubbed version of Metropolis with music by Giorgio Moroder so I don't think I'll mind that. So, I don't know if it works in context but it sounds dull and repetitive to me out of it. I quite like some of Nyet however I think the big orchestral parts here and there sound forced and out of place. Maybe they'll make more sense in accordance with the film. I agree that it's better than Neil's Back To Mine though but that doesn't say much.

Particularly the Moroder/Mercury track 'Love Kills'?

I e-mailed them to ask where mine was and they said it had been despatched. They gave the the tracking details and said that their courier seemed to be having delays when delivering to the UK - the man who e-mailed me blamed the incidents that have recently happened in London....

Yep - Georges at Lucky Records gave me the same information - and he replied to me within 5 minutes of sending my email. What a great shop with great service - I was getting worried it was lost in the useless UK Royal Mail service, but I'm relieved to hear they send it by courier. I just wish it would hurry up. I'm desperate to hear it!!!!

Okay... Now something about the music itself....
I found it to be a compelling listen! Some impressive stuff going on all over the place.

But two things bugged me a lot. It seems as if the boys don't hear they are using *BAD* snare (toms too) and synth-horn samples all over the place. Why do they use synth-horns and strings when they have an orchestra backing them up? This drives me crazy.
The sounds used are just awful! There are so many acoustic-snare-samples to be found everywhere, so why use General-Midi-snares? Same goes for the horns...
But apart from this glitch; for the first time in years I really enjoyed a new PSB release *A LOT*. Very innovative and eery and maybe even loungy in parts as well!

What synth horns? They're real horns!

No... they're trumpets (real or synth, I dunno). I thought you were talking about "horns". The main theme of "No Time for Tears" is carried by real French horns.

I agree Darkmoon, but most of the tracks have beautiful sounds. Do you listen to " The squadron " ? Very nice track !!!

" Men and maggots " as example is a good composition but indeed very general-midi drumsounds.

BUT I STILL LOVE IT !!! It's nice work and demonstrate how allround the boys are.
